I have a Viking with that foot and also a Janome with the same foot. It seems to work fine as long as I remember that the fabric should just barely touch the flange at the needle, which can get tricky with curves. It took a while to learn to resist the impulse to push the fabric up against the flange and just let it kind of guide the edge. If anything, I end up with a "too scant" 1/4 inch.

I have a Janome 6600, also. For a scant 1/4 inch seam I use the regular metal foot "A", adjust the needle position to 5.5 and line the edge of the fabrics up with the right side of the foot. Works for me.

I love the 1/4" foot on my Janome, it has me spoiled. When the Janome was in the shop for five weeks, I had to use another machine without that 1/4" foot and it made me realize, just how dependant I had become on that foot. However, I do not like the metal chunck on the 1/4" walking foot, as it tends to snag things, so, I to broke it off.

I have a Janome 9700 and love it. I love my 1/4 inch foot. Once you get used to it I think it iis wonderful I feel like the metal bar helps to keep me in line.

I love the bar guide on my Janome and Viking 1/4" foot. Keeps me in line. My featherweight foot doesn't have the bar guide, and I really have to concentrate when using it. Guess I have become used to the bar guide, my stitching is more correct with it.

I've learned to like it. My log cabin blocks all come out the same correct size after switching to this foot.

I have 2 Janome machines and they both have the 1/4 inch foot. It is not accurate on the newer machine but it is right on the money on my older machine. I love the foot, and it does have the metal guide. Never had a problem with it. Maybe
you just need practice. Sue |
My 1/4 foot is not accurate so I just use it and make allowance. What I do prefer about it is the single hole. Otherwise I would just mark the machine. I think I will buy the foot with the metal guide and perhaps I will like it better. I have lightweight Janone 2007 if anyone would like to sell me their foot, you can PM me.

Can't say I do as I have a Janome and I love my 1/4" foot. Love the guide mainly because I can keep the fabric close to the guide while sewing and therefore the seam comes out straight. When I don't use it I find my seams are all over the place. Saying this I have found that this foot give a generous 1/4" so I now move my needle over to the right and end up with a nice 1/4"

On the 6600 when you use the 1/4" accu feed and adjust your needle position, can you still use the single hole plate? I read somewhere that you can use single hole needle plate with adjustment to the needle position. Thank you for answering my question.
