Janome 1600p question
I am looking to buy a machine to use strictly for piecing and quilting. I am thinking of a Janome 1600p. Would anyone who uses this machine care to share their opinions on this? Also was wondering about the Gracie frame to go along with it.
Thanks! |
The 1600 is known as a true workhorse of a machine.
Nothing fancy ... it just stitches! I had one on loan while my machine was in for repairs one time, and put a lot of miles on that machine. I was definitely impressed and would highly recommend it, as I really put it to the test, through many layers of fabrics. I have also met a seamstress that had the 1600 in her shop, and was so impressed, that she bought a 2nd when she needed to add an extra machine. I assume you can lower its feed dogs, to be able to do FMQ. If so, I think it would be a charm. Keep in mind, that it is not the newest of machines available ... and be sure your price reflects that. |
I have a 1600 dp. The feet dogs do not go down. You just set it to 0. It is a workhorse but I find the throat is not large enough. Not sure how well it would work on the Gracie frame.
