Hello all. I believe this question was posed before with many people saying the 6600 would be wasted on a frame since it has so many desireable features unnecessary for frame quilting. Aside from that, would a 6600 be any less desireable or effective than say, a Pfaff grand quilter or a Juki which have equal arm lengths (9in.) to the 6600? If a 6600 would do OK on a frame, what frame do you all recommend?

all i can tell you is, i have a gracie pro frame.

the 6600 can go on it.. but honestly..it is so heavy..i can't imagine myself taking it on and off the frame to use for regular sewing..

there are probably lots of people that do use the 6600 on a frame though.

Have you ever had the 6600 on your frame? It wouldn't be taken on and off, it would probably be a rather "permanent location" for the 6600 since I may be blessed enough to buy a Bernina. Do you like your Gracie frame? Aren't there several generations of that frame? Which one do you have?

yes, i put it on thier once, but i was not very good at quilting on a frame, so i can't tell you how good it worked, i ended up getting a juki for it. which about a year later, i took it off the frame and dropped it..and broke it. :shock:

i bought the gracie PRO. from Kathy quilts on ebay. very good customer service.

The thing I hear over and over is the stitch quality on a straight stitch only machine surpasses one that does decorative stitching. That's why longarms are straight stitch only and Feather Weights are so cherished by quilters. So, the Juki and Grand Quilter(straight stitch machines) may have better stitch quality than putting a 6600 on a frame. Does that make sense? You could for sure do it and get a good result, but the stitch quality and small throat would make me really ponder if buying a $500-$1,200 frame would be worth it...

I have a Grace GMQ frame and a Juki that I also use as my primary machine. I wish I had 2 Jukis. I love my machine to death, but am going to save up for a long arm for the frame, to give me more room. I'll probably always use the Juki to piece though.

I like her one the frame- and the stitching quality is amazing. I am one that doesn't really use a lot of fancy stitches, so for me, the better quality, all metal straight stitch was the way to go.
