Janome 6600 question

A few months ago I splurged and bought myself a Janome 6600. (for me it was a splurge) I took the lessons at the quilt shop where I purchased the machine and I forgot to ask (so much going on). Will this machine sew backwards? I know it has the reverse button. When I push that it will slowly sew backwards - as long as I hold the button. What I am wondering is if there is a way to sew backwards without holding that button. Does any one know?

I think you have to hold the reverse button down. There is a Yahoo group for owners of this machine. Lots of advice there.

Thanks. I tried to join the yahoo group... I must not be smart enough :D

Yes, you have to push the reverse button for the whole time that you want to reverse stitch.

ENJOY your machine ... it's a wonderful one!
You will never regret your splurge!!! :)

If you have a ways to sew, just pivot the fabric around.

I love my 6600, they are a great machine!

Yup!!

The reverse on machines is really not meant to be used for long areas, it's designed just as a useful tool to back-stitch to secure the ends. As Kalama said ... if you need to sew more than 1" ... leave your needle down, pivot your piece and sew forward.
