Question for those of you with this machine or I guess any machine with an auto thread cutter.

After you've cut the thread do you then reach under and pull both threads up to the top?

If I don't I get bobbin vomit on the bottom. Seems to be kind of a waste to use the auto cutter then have to grab a stiletto to pull the threads up before I can start stitching again. Just wondering if this is normal or if there is something wrong with my machine.

Hi, I have the same machine and this was driving me CRAZY..I was always struggling to get that bobbin thread as it was so short I couldn't reach it..then last fall I was at the Toronto Craft Show and I was looking at the Janome 7700 and I mentioned to the gentleman that this was a big nuisance...he said that you don't have to grab both...just hold the top one and the bottom one comes along and sure enough it seems to be working for me...try it out and let me know what you think...

I don't have that problem with my 7700 with straight stitching, however, when I back stitch I get the vomit. I haven't tried holding the top thread yet, but will shortly.

I've never had an issue, but on the yahoo group for this machine they mention to be sure you pause a moment after you stop stitching, then press the thread cutter button. Hitting the button too quickly causes issues. I do not pull either thread in most cases, however rarely I may pull the top one. No need to pull either thread if chain stitching blocks on my 6600P.

I have a Janome 6600 and have been doing paperpiecing. I've been using the auto thread cutter but haven't had any problems.

No but I have the 6500. The thread cutter and knee lifter is the best part. I have never needed to reach under there. After automatic cutting it is always there when I start sewing again. No pausing no special instructions and I have had my machine for 7 years and run it hard.

well i never heard it called vomit :shock: but yes that's why i quit using the cutter, i try to always use leaders and enders anyway, less thread waste ;)

I have a J6600 and I don't usually have a problem. I am going to make sure to pause before hitting the cut button and see if that's why I get the vomit once in awhile. I think I usually do pause though so I won't get the little whistle warning.

No thread waste if you just do one block after another in a chain and do not pull any threads.
I have never heard the whistle warning. Maybe I don't want to, huh???
