This was a known issue with the 6500s, and I had the same issue with my 6600P when I bought it. Janome was kind enough to replace it free of charge, but the new one also has paint chipping now. However, I figure the paint thing is just cosmetic and doesn't interfere with how the machine operates, so I haven't bothered contacting Janome about it again.

I got mine new 2 months ago and paid $1600. It is worth every penny!!!

I have a 6500 and a 6600 and love them both, but the 6600 is so necessary when I'm sewing on binding. It has the built in dual feed capability. You got a good deal.

It was a known problem that the paint was not holding up on some Janomes. It sure wasn't because we were abusing them after paying that much money. I am truly happy that you aren't having any problems with yours but that isn't to say that others have not had their share. I use the machine like I have used machines in the past 50 years, caring for them but still using them as that is why I have sewing machines. If a lotion is causing the scissors to fade away then I wonder why it hasn't happened with my other machines.......oh well, just telling of my experience for the benefit of the poster.

Welcome from Arizona. I've bben pricing machines and the Janome 6600 was one of them and I would have jumped at the price compared with what I've seen online. Enjoy your new baby from what I've read you'll grow old together.

You got an awesome deal for 2 reasons: 1: it is a fabulous price and 2: it is an awesome machine.
It is what I have and if I could find another for that good of a price, I would snatch it up, just to have a spare. Congratulations on your find.

I paid 900.00 for mine about three years ago so you have a great machine and paid fair.Also have two Janome Jems that I travel with and I love them.

My husband bought me my 6600 3 years ago when he took his retirement. I have sewn for 47 years no and this baby is by far the best machine I have ever had. He laughs at me because I'll be sewing away and suddenly say " I love this baby". He paid $1600. for it and he later went out and bought me the table for it. It really made a big difference to me sewing as I am short and the machine sits into the base of the table and is then the correct height for me. There are sew many features that you will love. The scissors, the walking foot. I got the acufeed in the ditch foot and have asked for the acufeed 1/4" foot for xmas.
