I paid about 1400, I think, for my 6600 less than a year ago. Came with the table as well. Don't know about the others.

pegquilter8 09-23-2011 08:56 AM

I bought my first 6600 4 yrs ago at 1500. no extras. Then I purchased my second one at 1,000 w/table. It is now selling for 1999.00 w/tabe at my LQS.
Good deals all around. I love mine. Both of them. Pegeth

I took a class back in April at the MQX in Providence where we all had the use of a 7700. After the class, they were being sold for $1,999 by the dealer who brought them.

Yes, I am still kicking myself for not buying one then...LOL.

I bought a 6600p a couple of years ago. It had 4 extra feet included and cost me $1300.00.

I haven't seen/priced the others so I don't know if those prices are reasonable.

I paid 1600 with all the extras about 4 years ago, so that price should be much, much lower.
I know someone who got the same as me, and she paid 1200.
It's a great machine, but don't be taken!

I paid $1199 for my 6600 last year and I love it

Boslie 09-23-2011 06:24 PM

The price here for a Janome 6600 from a dealer's store is $1600 also. Must be an average price.

gale 09-23-2011 06:33 PM

I paid $1399 for my 6600 about a year and a half ago. I don't use it $1399 worth but I'm trying.

Wow, I need to buy in the midwest. I bought my 6600 a little over a year ago and it came with a table and lessons and something but after all is said & done with the taxes I paid about $2000.00.

I was told by a Janome dealer the the Janome Company controlls the strict pricing for the first 6 months of releasing a new model machine. If a dealer sells for less & the company finds out they will no longer be Janome dealers.

I was looking at the Janome website and noticed the 6600 is "Retired".

Oh no! That seems a strange decision, leaving a big gap in their range - the 7700 and upwards are more complicated (and cost more) than I want or need.
Looks as if I'm going to have to decide pretty quickly whether to get a 6600.

gale 09-24-2011 11:44 PM

where does it say the 6600 is retired? I don't see it in the list of retired machines on their site.

Thanks Gale - that's reassuring. I'm trying to get to the bottom of this rumour with a few questions asked elsewhere. I see that the 11000 IS on the retired list, which is understandable, but I really can't see why they'd pull the 6600, one of their most popular and highly thought of machines. As far as I'm concerned, the 7700 wouldn't be a replacement or equivalent, as it's so big, complex and expensive.

Janome is notorious for introducing new models that are the same as old models with a face-lift. I bet they will have a 6600 equivalent and you should still be able to buy NIB 6600's for several months up to a year after that and will pay far less. So all is not lost.

Hope not. Anyway, I've emailed Janome UK to ask what the situation is.

Obviously I misread the website: http://content.janome.com/index.cfm/...ilting/MC6600P

If you look at line above the Memory Craft 6600P where is says: Embroidery, etc at the end it is Retired.

I am very sorry that I mislead anyone.

Ah, I see what you mean. Not to worry -you weren't the first to say this, which is why I'm checking with Janome!

I can see how that would happen. It's their menu that's on every page but you're right-it is easy to mistake it for the category of the page you're looking at.

A follow up to this - I've had a reply from Janome to say that the 6600 is still current and that they're not aware of any plans to discontinue it in the UK. So hopefully the same applies to the US!

I just bought a new/used Viking Ruby w/embroidery for 4500 at my LQS; it had only been used 7hours and I know the previous owner so I know it was well loved. If you aren't getting anything extra you might check around. Do they also give you free lessons; I get free lessons and free signup for the monthly embroidery club.
