Which of the two would you buy (7700 $2,000 cdn and Serenade $2,000)? Unable to test the Baby Lock as the dealer can only order it in if I want to buy it. I'm in love with the Janome 7700 but is the 7" vs 9 inch width on the Serenade a big feature in quilting?

btw, I'm live in St. John's Newfoundland Canada

I think this is a double post? I just answered your other posting...

I've never sewn on the Horizen but I did purchase a Serenade a couple weeks ago. I LOVE IT! I've been sewing on a Pfaff 7570 and it is like my Pfaff on steroids! BTW, the Serenade has an 8 5/8" harp. Lots of room.

I have a Babylock ESpire which is now marketed as the Symphonie and I love my Baby. This one looks more like the Pfaffs that I used to have with the built-in walking foot and the front-load bobbin. When I testdrove new machines, the Janomes just didn't work for me. Babylock has a wonderful warranty - I would go with the Babylock.

I have a Babylock Quilter's Choice and I have been very happy with my purchase - when I WON mine at LQS grand opening, they told me retail was about $1800.00, (I asked so I would know the value for insurance purposes)
I'd buy the machine if I hadn't won it - sews well, great service & warranty.

Was there anything in particular you didn't like about the Janome?
