Janome 8200

Does anyone have this machine and can give me a review? I have a chance to buy this display model at my closest dealer (110 miles away) for half the MSRP. Basically wondering if there are way too many things that would never get used since my wish list is only 1/4 of what this machine offers.
Thanks!
Karen

Wow! Sounds like a great deal! I don't have experience with this machine, but did find this thread:

I bought a Bernina in the 90s and all I wanted was a buttonhole stitch. Hardly ever use any of the decorative stitching. If it fits all the needs that you have on your list and you can afford, go for it.

I have found it fun to try new stitches whether or not I thought I was going to use them. If you feel it to be a good deal after reading different reviews and for the price, I would go for it.

You can always crazy quilt with the decorative stitches.

I have the machine and love it. Has plenty of stitches. It's a great machine for free motion. I did learn however that I must use the single hole throat plate or I get loops. It's really fast but I never sew at full speed as my brain can't think that fast. It sews a perfectly straight stitch for piecing. Another tip: be sure to measure your 1/4 seam setting. Using the setting on the machine didn't yield a perfect width. On my machine I had to move the needle over to the 9 setting to get a scant 1/4 seam. I have zero complaints and use it as my go to machine for free motion. I also suggest you use a topstitch needle because I was shredding thread and I use polyester thread for free motion. You will be happy.
