janome 8200 bobbin problem
I am having an issue with my Janome 8200 bobbin area, I broke a needle this morning, cleaned the bobbin area throughly and replaced the needle but now my bobbin case area is making this scraping noise...checked the needle and seems to be fine, sews okay except for the noise...Anyone have any idea of what is causing it??? Thanks in advance for your help....

Are you sure you got all the broken tip out of the bobbin area? I wonder if it may have gotten wedged in the case. Maybe a magnifying glass would help.

Check the bobbin case for a nick. Sometimes breaking a needle puts a burr on it which will make an awful sound. I had to have mine replaced on my 8200 (30 bucks for the part) after breaking a few needles.
But also try: -rethreading your machine -checking that there are no loose threads in the body of the machine -vacuuming out the bobbin area if you have one of those tiny machine vacuums -changing the needle -making sure the bobbin is wound tight with no gaps -looking in your manual for other troubleshooting ideas related to noise |
Personally, I would try all the suggestions above, but if that still doesn't fix the issue, I would not continue to use the machine. A scraping noise would mean something is getting abraded. If you continue to use it, you may damage it beyond repair. Take it in for service.
