30% off of MSRP is awesome. Just offer the $2499. See how it goes. Is the next shop owner going to be a machine dealer???? The current owner is trying to recoup her machine $$$.

If a dealer is willing to sell a machine for MSRP minus 30% does that mean there is a 50% mark-up on sewing machines? That would mean they still can make 20% profit.

I'm watching this post too because I'm very interested in this machine but the dealer near me is very firm on their pricing. Maybe waiting for the annual spring quilt show would be the way to go as far as finding the best price, but then will my local dealer service it?

I think I'm going to hold off for now. I'm feeling just a little pressure since the current owner will only be around for another 4 wks. I recognize the new owner's name but can't put a face to it. Since I checked these out on a whim
because of the Inv. Reduction ad I think I should take more time to test drive & gather funds together. Thanks for your input, I appreciate all the knowledge the people on this board are willing to share. It's only 6 wks since my Father passed

Call your local dealer from the quilt show once you know the price and extras the show dealer will be including. Tell your local dealer's owner/manager (not a sales associate) you're buying today and you wanted to give them this opp to match the show package, sales tax included. They should jump at the chance - they'd be making a machine sale without any work :) and you could pick it up on your way home.

I paid $1400 for my 6600. They gave me $100 off so it would have been $1500.

I paid $1500 (Aug 2013) for my 8900 that has the red around the display was used the lady had it 1 month brought it back and traded up to an embroidery machine. Have the orginal box everything came with it somethings were wrapped and never used. Plus they gave me a 3yr warranty and service contract for free.

I paid $2250.00 for my 8900, but I used a dealer out of state. The lowest price I could find in Texas was $2995.00 and that was on a special two-week sale. That dealer usually charges $3500.00. Unfortunately the dealer I purchased mine from no longer ships the 8900 out of state. I'd say $3000.00 with full support and a few extras thrown in (like the cone holder, the extra 1/4" Accu-feed foot or the FMQ bobbin holder) would be a good deal.

I joined this forum to add information on my search for the MC 8900. My wife needs a new machine and this is what she likes so I started my search to find the best price - what an experience.

I called a couple of local dealers(Kitchener, Ontario) and got a quoted price of $3800.00. I found another thread in this forum where several people purchased the MC8900 from a dealer in Florida for $2000.00 to 2250.00 last fall ( I don't know who the dealer in Florida is). I called back the local dealers and asked their best price which was $2499.99. One of them came right out and said she cannot change the price, but can throw in a couple of extras. I just got a phone message that if I buy the machine, the $113.00 repair on her old one will be free.
I'll still call some more dealers to try to confirm the price of $2500.00, but I don't think I will find a much lower price in Ontario.
