Janome 9000 needles
 

Getting back to quilting after recent retirement.
I bought a used Janome MC9000 machine last fall. I thought I would use the embroidery feature alot. I am a quilter and a multiple use machine appealed to me. I am having trouble finding the right needles to quilt with. It was suggested I use a topstitch needle from Janome. I purchased size 11 and 14. Trying to sew through several layers where the seams meet is a nightmare the machine clunks through sometimes pushing the fabric to the left. I have purchased a new 1/4" foot (babylock) as a friend suggested because I could not get an accurate 1/4" with the patchwork foot.
I would appreciate any help you Janome users can give me.

i had problems with my Janome 1600p breaking threads and skipping stitches,i purched the purple tip needles and quilted a queen size quilt with NO skipped stitches or thread breaks.I was using a pantograph on a little gracie frame The package said it was for all Janome models.

I have another question on the Janome 9000. Do any of you use it or have used it for FMQ? I am starting to learn and cannot find anywhere to adjust the top tension. I am beginning to think I made a bad purchase and should have gone with a quilting machine like the 6500 or 6600.

I have a Janome 9000. Does yours have an adjust button? Click on that and options come up. I have no problem FMQ with mine.

Well, this is probably a looooong shot, but my Janome 1600 takes round needles. Maybe double-check your manual and make sure you have the correct needles.

Hi, I don't know if this will help but I just purchased a Janome 6600. When I had my lesson on it she told me to use Schmetz needles. She said Janome needles are made by Schmetz and they are the same needles because Janome just puts their name of them. She also said Schmetz has great information on their site about sewing machine needles. She also told me to change the needle after 8-9 hours of sewing and if using polyester products as in battings, etc to change them sooner.
