Yay! The LQS called two days ago, saying the machine is back and when can they bring out to the house! Yippee!

Update again -- We (my sis-in-law and I) didn't get back to trying out the quilter until early September. It acted very weird - the jog and needle up/down buttons would make the machine groan as it slowly tried to move the needle. I couldn't pull the bobbin thread up without getting the top thread stuck. The LQS sent a teacher back out to the house and she confirmed that it was not just us, but the machine was having more problems. Two days later, the LQS boss delivered a new machine. It purrs like a kitten! Hopefully this one will not develop the groans and moans that the other one had! I tried it last night and it was so much fun!

Fingers crossed, I'm going to quilt my first real, not just for practice, quilt this week! My sis-in-law is finishing up a quilt top for her daughter's 4th birthday next weekend, so my niece's quilt will probably be my first "real" quilt to do! I'm excited! I've been practicing my butterflies and flowers on Kendall's magnadoodle and on the whiteboard when I can get the markers away from my niece :)

Yea!!! Truly happy for you, let us know how that first quilt goes and hoping this new machine will be problem free... Judy

The first quilt went pretty good. I got it done in two evenings and did the binding tonight. My niece is just glad that I was able to play with her tonight!

FYI, I learned that I do not like the Grace Majestic frame's tubing system to hold the leaders in place. They seem to slip and slide in all directions. Next on my list is to either get a lot of velcro to slap down on the rails and leaders, or just duct tape them like I've heard others have done. I've also ordered the Quick Zip System to put zippers on my leaders so I can pin the quilt tops and backings to one side of the zippers and then... zip..... :)

There's also the Red Snappers for putting on your quilts too ;)
I am hoping to one day get this machine. It isn't in my budget right now but maybe one day....

I had the same problem with my old Grace Z44 hand-quilting frame, the fabri-fast rail system didnn't keep the fabric in and kept coming out. I used duct tape this time (cheaper) but sure didn't want to. The velcro is really expensive and I was worried about the added height on the bar. Judy
