Janome dealers
Does anyone know of any Janome dealers that will quote prices over the phone? Also are they allowed to ship machines to us? I'm ready to buy a 8900 but have no dealer closeby.
|
Check out Sewing Machine Plus - they have a website. When you put in the machine you want they say to call for details. They have a lot of Janome machines. I have been to their show room and have bought a lot of embroidery thread but no machines from them. So can't speak to their customer service after the sale.
Hope you find what you want. |
I just paid $2499.00 for mine 2 weeks ago at my local sewing center.

Over here in UK we can buy on the Internet from dealers and cheaper places. You could just ring main Janome centre to find out how to get the machine of your dreams. I did this with brother in UK and arranged a shop to pick machine up at and they also gave me a trolley bag for it because I had made so much effort to get my dream machine then.
Good luck. |
In Poland we can buy through companies that have websites. They have their machines and prices on line. I did notice their more expenive machines, however, they say "Call". (I'm guessing they don't sell a lot of the more expensive ones!) But I bought my 7700 on line from an auction site. Well, I saw it advertised on an auction site, then contacted the store and went from there--not using the auction site.

I bought through a dealer in New Holland, PA ..quoted me a price over the phone and I had it shipped. There is not a Janome dealer close to me. I was happy with the transaction.

we have a janome dealer in fargo about 200 miles where i live and i needed a little one for classes
they shipped that and told me over the phone how much it would be. it arrive in very good shape was packed very good |
I bought my Janome on line, and got free shipping and no sales tax. It was from a Dealer in the South.

Janome does not allow prices to be online for their newer more expensive machines. A simple phone call gets you the quote.

If you want you can watch HSN (Home Shopping Network) next Thursday at 11 am and 4pm HSN will sell Janome machines for the first time. They always have a great package deal. I have bought two high end machines from HSN and no problems at all. And you can return it in 30 days no questions asked and they have flex pay if you need it. The machines will be on their website that day too. I posted more info about this in Links and Resources.

Last I heard Janome would not allow this machine to be sold through websites and only through dealers. I have seen prices on this particular machine range from $2500-$3700. I have this machine and love it. I found shopping for it to be frustrating because I was quoted different prices. I bought mine from a dealer in Pompano Beach Florida who has a large internet business along with his local shop. He was the one that told me about the restrictions on this machine. I'm not sure if they could do an over the phone sale and ship it or not. Other Janome machines can be sold on line and through places like HSN etc. If you can find a dealer that is within driving distance from where you live and you now know the price range to negotiate that might be the way to go. It is a rather intuitive machine so if you know how to sew you can figure out the machine without classes and such. As far as warranty repairs any Janome dealer honors that. You don't have to buy your machine from them. The large harp area on this machine makes it a dream to quilt with. Good luck with your search. You won't be disappointed with the machine.

It may be Janome's suggestion it isn't suppose to be sold online but it is. I found this machine on a lot of shop's websites for sale that sell other brands too. It's odd but a lot of the shops are vacuum cleaner dealers too. Never understood that. I don't know what models HSN will have but it's suppose to be five different models other then what they have been selling of Janome machines. I got upset with the Bernina dealer when I asked the price of the machine I was interested in and she said Hmmmm, come to my office, I don't want to be overheard giving a price. I didn't go to her office and I didn't buy the machine from her. It's stupid for a sewing machine to have a secret price. |
I was at a shop that posted the prices on a chart. "Financed" price, "trade in" price, Cash with trade-in, CASH PRICE (no trade-in, Lowest price!). It must work for her, she moves a lot of machines. No haggle, no "freebies". She telss it like it is in a straightforward manner.

That sort of thing smacks of the old fast-and-loose car salesman tricks to me. Tell me the price up front. If I want it, I'll buy it. If I don't, I'll move along. Reputable companies shouldn't have to resort to that sort of thing! Secret prices? What is that?? I have a couple of the lower end Janome for straight piecing, and some high end Brother machines for embroidery and other sewing, plus my longarm machine. I didn't buy any of them wondering what the price was. I knew ahead of time. Otherwise they'd still be sitting waiting for a different buyer than me. LOL

WOW, I could not imagine buy a DSM without a dealer nearby to service the machine. Guess I am just a city girl after all!!

Good luck when you do get your 8900, I love mine!

Both Bernina dealers in my area have hang tags with the price posted on all machines...the only way to do business, if you ask me. When the price is a secret, I feel like the dealer is sizing up the customer....getting a feel for what he/she will pay. A nicely dressed person will pay more.....maybe?????? What other reason could there be???

My LQS posts prices on the machines as well but they certainly aren't prices you want to pay (if you have done research and heard what other people have paid). My Crescendo had a price of $5999. No one is paying that price. Based on a lot of internet searches, I've heard anywhere from $3200 to $4200 from people buying in the last year. I had to really, really haggle and I was paying full cash and had an excellent machine for a trade-in. I do not feel I got a good price at all but any other deal was several hours drive and I didn't want to do that. Of course the dealer felt I was getting a great price. I came home with that horrible feeling like when you buy a car from a dealership!!! Why does it have to be so hard?

I actually tried my 8900 at a store. I did see it online as a call for quote on every website. I ended up getting it at a different store than where I originally looked at it.

I bought a Low end Janome through mrvacandmrsswew online to save $80 off the dealer's cost. Very good customer service and very fast shipping. If I didn't have a dealer nearby and was ready to buy online, I'd use that company again. The second time I called the guy remembered me! I was impressed .

Try Allbrands.com. It's located in Baton Rouge, LA.

Machine pricing, esp. with the more expensive machines, has so many variables. Are you buying with CASH ...no trade, no financing, asking for freebies, etc? Customers need to be upfront too. That "trade" is the bargaining power for both sides of the deal but a dealer is not going to lose income either.
My best bargaining position is to pay with upfront cash without all of the drama of financing (you will pay top dollar) , trade in etc. (I had been saving for this.). I respected the dealer who posted the various buying options. (Not the brand I buy, btw.). I emailed my dealer last November just prior to Thanksgiving. I asked her to quote the best Black Friday price for cash, no trade on the mid-range machine I had been looking at. She shot the price back at me and I bought it. It was the floor model but my pocketbook was very happy and the machine is a dream. No regrets here. sandy |
