I see alot of you have inquired about the new Horizon and if anyone had tried one or owned one on the board. Well, I haven't seen it yet; but my quilting friend just called a little while ago and was so excited about this machine and all it has to offer. She went to the demonstration today and it was love at first demo lol. She has been saving for a longarm set-up; but is now so impressed with this machine, she is considering just buying it and a smaller frame. I am so anxious to see it up close and personal myself later this month.

haven't seen it yet, thanks for letting us know

I keep hearing so many good things about it... Maybe my lottery ticket is a winning one tonight? :D:D:D

The horizon is 2500$ and more machine than I need. But its lovely for sewing, just lots of goodies.

The price is enough to make me just "dream" about it! It is a lot of machine....but would still love to have one. Oh...if money only grew on trees....lol Like My DD said....technically it does! |
I saw her today at the local dealer. The sales gal had never worked on the machine (probably not the best way to demo - it was painful to watch). I'd have to say that use is not intuitive. She is pretty, large harp, straight stitch plate automatically slips in place to keep fabric from being sucked into the feed dogs. There is a (touchy) dial to turn to the stitch of choice. I found her to ride smoother than the 6600.
Other than that, I believe she has the features from the Janome 6600. Not quite sure why she is so much more expensive other than new model syndrome. |

Martina--
Thanks for the info. I rec'd an email from my Janome dealer about the new Horizon....but no price. I figure if they don't want to tell me that in an email, then it's too expensive....lol But I have read the info and FAQs at the Janome website and it sounds like a nice machine. It has a couple things I'd like to have. |
The dealer had a $2,999 tag on it. I'd start the bidding at around 2 grand and go from there. Maybe some of the dealers offer Mother's Day specials.
If I were looking at that machine, I would make sure that it doesn't have any "first build" kinks. Working in the manufacturing industry, those first builds can be notorious for some oversights. |

I did get an email from Janome about it, but haven't yet opened the email. |
Hi Mamaw,
I ordered this from the place I always buy my machines and I got a heck of a deal. It is retailing over here in the UK for £1875... but I didn't pay that! I am so looking forward to her arrival.... she won't be with me until the 12th.... But I am glad to hear anything positive....! I think the large price tag is because of the longer arm space! Hugs Caroline |
I took a class last night for my sewing machine and one of the gals had the new Horizon. She minced no words about her frustration. She apparently traded up a 6500 so she had a good comparison. The one thing she said was driving her crazy was the selection wheel to pick the stitch. She said it takes her forever to find the stitch now where as before, she could just key in the number.
Just thought I'd share in case anyone is looking to buy that. It is one of those "try and see if it works for you" things. |
I have one. I love it. It's been a pleasure to use.

I'm dreaming of a...ho...rizon :D

Hi Guys,
I paid £1079 for the machine with the trolley case. I don't know what this is in dollars but I think I got a really good deal. Hugs |
