I got to see it today and see all it can do....I am just so excited over this machine!!!! Hoping and praying that I will somehow get the money for it sometime in the near future. Even hubby was impressed, he sat back and observed the 1/2 hr. demo the gal who owns the shop gave me. I couldn't find anything negative about it; and is the answer for someone who wants to quilt their own quilts and doesn't have the room or finances for a longarm. That 11'' throat area, in itself, is amazing. Check it out here if interested

Wow! Looks like a quilter's dream machine!

b.zang 05-07-2010 07:25 PM

YES!!
Another Janome to add to my collection

akrogirl 05-07-2010 07:27 PM

Full price is $2999. There are no deals in my area but a few people have lucked out and got their machines for approx. $2500 - one even got a $500 store card included!

SunAngel 05-07-2010 07:50 PM

That looks like a great machine. Anyone would be lucky to get it.

hcarpanini 05-07-2010 08:07 PM

It's a beautiful machine. I saw it yesterday. My Janome dealer said she would take my 6600 on trade, but I seriously cant justify it. I have always said my 6600 was everything I ever needed. Good luck if you get it I will be jealous.

It's a great machine and the price is not bad compared to some of the other brands. What I am wondering is why they put so many buttonhole options on the new sewing machines. I have never used the buttonhole option much less the attachments with any machine I have ever had.

People who sew clothes would love to have buttonhole options... :)

a Janome dealer in Savannah, GA sells the Horizon for $2,400.
that includes 2 years free maintenance and repair.

i have one burning question, but am too lazy to drive up to see for myself. (ok. i'm also afraid to go see it in person. i'm a bit of a sewing machine junkie. that would be a more expensive "fix" than i can afford right now. )

do the Accufeed feet snap on, or do you have to remove the adapter to screw on the whole foot?

MNQuilter 05-08-2010 03:46 AM

I've been really wanting the 6600 but have a feeling my desire is going to change once I see this one! I want a big machine that I can use to quilt myself and the size of this throat is very appealing!

barnbum 05-08-2010 03:56 AM

Hmm...when I shopped 18 months ago for a new machine, a larger throat area was a huge priority for me. No Janome or Bernina had them, so I bought a Baby Lock Quest. The throat is 8.75" and the width of the sewing area is 7". It has all the stuff this one has, too--from what I can see. It was $900. I think the new ones now are $1500.

If I were in the market for a non-embroidery machine, this one would be in the running for sure. It looks like a great machine. I especially like the fact that you can switch the needle plate to a straight stitch plate with the touch of a button. Very cool.

mamaw 05-08-2010 01:17 PM

$2999 here in Maine also. Guess that is the average going price. Was offered a good trade in for my machine.
Also, has the best lights!! Great for my over 50 eyes lol.

sewsewquilter 05-08-2010 02:17 PM

I want one too!!!! But I'm going to wait a year to see if the price comes down. Although it is still priced lower than some brands.

CarrieAnne 05-08-2010 03:32 PM

Wow, it looks like a great machine!
