Janome Magnolia 7318

Has anyone worked on or own a Magnolia 7318 Janome machine? Do you like it? would you advise someone to buy one for a starter machine?

I have one. I love it. It's the only machine I have, and I bought it as a beginner about 5 years ago now and it's still going strong. I piece and quilt everything on it and it's been a fantastic machine. Takes all threads, and you can drop the feed dogs for FMQ. Picked up a generic walking foot and darning foot for it and it's been perfect. The throat size is 6.5in from needle to base of machine so it's a decent size for what you're spending! Highly recommend. I've done lap sized up through a 110" square quilt on it. I've also made bags and a quillow, and at one point was sewing through... 9 layers at once (3 layers of batting, 6 layers of flannel) and it wasn't "easy" but it worked.

thank you Sephie! I've read a lot of the reviews on amazon and they are all glowing also about this machine. I feel that I will buy this machine for my granddaughter to start her journey of learning to sew!
