Janome MC11000 Special Edition

just some info concerning this machine I have been having trouble getting mine to turn on, It had to be turned on then off then back on again several times before the computer screen would come on, after having done some research into the problem on the internet I determined that it was a mother board problem known to Janome. If your machine is doing this Janome will pay to have it shipped back to the New Jersey plant and the machine repaired and shipped back to you at no charge IF it is still under the five year warranty. Your local Janome store will ship it back but they will also insist on their repair person looking at it to see if it is just a problem with the on/off switch, be sure if the problem persists you insist it being sent back to Janome before the warranty is up.

I have an 11000 and an SE11000 and both have blown motherboards. Both exactly the same way. I was embroidering, it finished the pattern, then paff, black machine, no power and would not come back on. The SE (less than one year old) went first, then two weeks later the 11000 (two years old). Janome did replace both motherboards, though it did cost me $250. for the service. I had the machines home for a couple of months and the SE blew again. Again it was right after completing a design, however this time, all it would do was flash, strobing even after it was unplugged, left overnight and tried again the next morning. It has blown another motherboard and the Janome dealer is now telling me this will not be covered by warranty as it must be a problem with the wiring in our house. That sure makes sense. I had a Janome 10000 for years as well as a Singer Futura. I also have my computer plugged in to the same surge bar and I have two sergers and a Janome Professional in the same room. No problems with any of them. Now they want $800 to fix the SE again and I am afraid of how many times this may be a problem. I do love these machines when they are working, however, the worry of having to replace motherboards on an ongoing basis at $800 a crack certainly would deter me from buying another one.
