Janome Professional 6600 Sewing Machine

I have an opportunity to buy this machine. The seller says that it is 4-5 years old and has been used very little. Before I go and look at it I would like to know if any of you have this machine and if you like it. Aldo, how does it compare with the latest models? Thanks.

Can't answer the comparison question, but I have the 6600 and it's a gem of a machine. Like most everyone who has one has stated, it's a real work horse. I'd love one of the latest models, but for now, I'm very happy with what I have.

Have it and love it. I think I paid 1699. new. Can't tell you how it compares, but it is a good machine. I think it all depends on what she is selling it for.

I bought mine in May 2012 and I absolutely love it. I use it pretty heavily & I've never had an issue with it. I paid $1899, which was high even then, but I wanted the support of my LQS. They are selling it now for $1499/$1599 depending on the sale.

I have the 6600 and the 8900. THe 6600 worked pretty well but was quite picky for me on thread. Also, I had a terrible time fmq'ing on it. I can FMQ much easier on the 8900 and it's not as picky. Neither machine likes very bulky seams. Between the 2 machines, I definitely prefer the 8900. I bought the 6600 5 years for about $1600. I paid $2500 for the 8900 in Jan. It was a little used floor model. Hope that helps.

I bought my 6600 for $1299 in 2011. I love that machine!!! My repairman (in business almost 30 years) said that everyone who has that model absolutely loves it...even though he gets complaints on other brands and other models.

Have it ... love it. I purchased mine used from the dealer for $700 a few years ago. Because mine was from the dealer it had been completely serviced and came with a 90 day dealer warranty.

There have been many posts on this DSM so you might want to investigate those post by using the advance search and select the model of the machine, I would be very careful of buying it from a stranger you didn't know.

I bought mine in 2010 - it cost $1400.00 from a dealer and they included the Janome table with it. My lessons were included along with a 2 year membership with a sewing club. I do love it - but I have only a Viking Topaz 20 to compare it to, but I use the Topaz for embroidery, so really can't compare the two. When I bought my Janome all I had was my 1925 treadle and my 1950 15-91. So you can see the Janome was a giant step. But the other thing I liked about buying it from the dealer, if I kept the box and wanted to up-grade within 6 months she would give me the full sales price on the up-grade.
