Just thought that I'd vent! I purchased a Janome Rotary Foot Kit ($70.00) and I just LOVED that it had two little tractor treads on it that gluided over all types of fabrics!

http://content.janome.com/index.cfm/...y_Even_Foot_TM

Alas, the little nylon tread on the left stretched and then broke after about 8 months. Was told, sorry....no warranty, no repairs. I loved the foot so much that I went and paid another $70.00+ for another kit. Now the same dang thing has happended (in 2 months time). HATE IT!!!

Contacted the LQS where I bought it....they said, sorry....buy a new one. Contact Janome - no answer. C'mon folks....the foot is fine, it's the freakin' little nylon tread that sucks. Just sell the treads!!!

Sigh......I now have two kits that I cannot use and the only thing wrong wtih them is a 5 cent tread!!!

Thanks....I feel better now! :)

I have never seen this. Can you take the good tread off one and put it on the other so at least you have one foot that works?

San Diego Quilter 06-24-2011 12:26 PM

OH MY GOSH..... I cannot believe that I didn't think of taking the good tread off. *laughing* I was just way to busy being mad!

Thank you!!!!
Linda

I'm glad someone came up with a solution for you!

But still - for a gadget that expensive and the sellers' attitudes behind it -

I am hoping by the time you wear out both of these treads, they start selling replacements  :D:D:D

What you need is an itsy, bitsy, teeny, tiny lug belt.
lol lol

That's a pretty neat foot, especially the rolled hem attachment.
I'm going to have to seei if Bernina has an similar one. Of course, if the Janome one was $70, I'm sure Bernina has a special for $150.

I'm glad you can at least use one of your feet.

the retailers who sell feet are unlikely to assume any warranty liability. they will blame the manufacturer.

did you contact Janome by email?

i've tried sending email inquiries to big companies. i don't think i've ever gotten an answer.

i wonder if a letter sent by snail mail (with photos) might get results.
or a phone call.

i normally discourage consumer complaint posts but this one is a bit different.

do try to call or send a letter if you haven't already. i'm sure many of us would be interested to see what happens.

Well I found it on Ebay for 59.00 but since I have a Kenmore 19233 that does take the snap on feet I have sent an email to the seller to see if it will work with my machine. Here's hoping.

Because that is one great foot.

If you can find a Sew-Vac center with an old gentleman still working in it, he will find a solution to your problem. I found one who is 85+ and he set my FW so it uses all of my snao-on Janome feet. He made a part for my RED EYE out of a piece from a Pfaff. It works. Finding a silicone tube the right size for your foot and then cut so its like a rubber band and it would work. Maybe!

GREAT news - (I am back to LOVE IT!!) Janome answered my plea for help. Replacement treads ARE available. (YIPPEEEEE)

PN 140107-1 - tread for Janome Rotary Even Foot Sets, Model 3237777

I've sent an e-mail off to my favorite dealer (Sewing Machines Plus - a full 70 miles from where I live, but they are GREAT!).

I use the rotary foot on all of my machines (including the 1905 treadle!). I have purchased adaptors for all of my machines that allow me to use the snap on feet. Best thing since slided bread! This allows me to share feet on all of my low shank straight machines AND my slant shank. No need to buy pricey feet for each machine!

Oh yeah.....(doing the happy dance)....I get to use my rotary foot again.....

Linda

Don't know what "slided" bread is.... I usually buy the sliCed variety. :)

Just washed my hands and can't do a thing with 'em......

Great foot. I will have to check it out. Also, thanks for the tip about snap on feet. I can really use that tip.

Ran across this forum looking for bands for a Janome Rotary Even Foot - Yaay!! found a part No. for the Bands - the one posted was 140107-1 - Ordered it from Sewingmachinesplus.com and the part no. found at Janome is 0031407-1. Ordered 6 of these.

nativetexan 06-16-2014 07:37 AM

well that's a weird little foot. looks like the treads on Army tanks! Good luck.

stillclock 06-16-2014 12:43 PM

I am interested to know about adapters for the slant shank.

Hmm, does it have to be thread? I was thinking the small clear braid bands used in hair would work. They come in different widths and diameters.
