Thank you all so much for helping me out on this. I did find a good deal on bulk Organ needles on Amazon, paying less than 65 cents each. I could have saved even more but I decided to go with the titanium.
I also found a great deal on the Schmetz which I will probably order next time, but my DH wanted me to get the ones "made for my machine". Since I had a gift card for $50, I went along with him on it this time.

I will not use the titanium needles for two reasons. One - there's no need for the added cost and two - when they break, they don't just break they shatter. I would much rather have to buy a new bobbin case for $30 than have to pay $$$ for repairs on my expensive machines. There is a good reason these needles were invented for commercial machines not home machines.

Thank you Cari, I am going to take your advice and return the needles and get the regular ones instead. I don't want to take the chance of a tiny piece of needle getting into my machine works.
It's a new machine, and I do break needles. LOL

I use Schmetz and Organ needles (which I buy in bulk) on my Janome 6600 and Janome 350E. Never had any problem with either needle in either machine.

I use Organ needles as that was what was packed with my machine when I got it. I buy 100 at a time for less than
$25. you can find them on the internet or got to Wawak.com and order them Good Luck by the way I only have Janome machines

the Superior Titanium needles are coated with Titanium; they are not made of titanium. I agree with you, lyric girl. I have had them break and they arent any different than when a schmetz needle breaks. The titanium needles stay sharp longer so I don’t need to replace them as often so the extra expense is worth it to me.

I use Schmetz top stitch needles in my Janome 99% of the time and have never had a problem with them.

Cari, I find that hard to believe. It's the first time I've ever heard such a thing, and if it were the norm, they wouldn't still be on the market; people would've complained so much the Superior company wouldn't risk their reputation to sell them.
I think the smoothness, sharpness, and durability actually have been worth the extra money.

But to each his own.

I have recently purchased an 8900 and was advised to only use Janome needles. I have a ton of Schmetz needles which I use with my Juki so I was doggedly reluctant to buy another type just for "one machine" but after some frustrations with massive skipped stitches while sewing with the Schmetz needles in the 8900 I tried the Janome purple needles and my problem vanished. sigh.......I've relinquished, given in, and accepted the inevitable and have now purchased a range of Janome needles for the 8900....sigh.....should've done what I was instructed to do in the first place....bad me!

When piecing, my Janome 9400 works fine with anything..I use superior titanium 80/12 or 90/14...but when quilting or sewing on binding, it only works with Janome purple tip.
