O>K> what is a jar quilt? :?: I'm an old quilter so this must be something new? say in : the last 30 years.

It's a quilt that has squares that look like Jelly Jars, then inside each jar is a novelty print - it can be food or bugs or other cute prints that would be fun to "peek" into! I'd get you an example, but am having major computer trouble! I'm sure someone will post a link.

It's a quilt pattern that looks like jars full of whatever you put in them.
http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/4895.page http://quilting.about.com/od/blockof..._jar_quilt.htm Here are a couple of things to look at. I think how pretty they are really depends on the fabric you find for your jars. Some can be amazing. |
Don't forget you can make the jar itself any size as long as the block is 12.5 inches! :D
I've got your fabric washed and dried. I'll press it soon and get started after I finish a project I'm working on. You've been quilting 30 years? Oh my, I'm almost a beginner. |
Here's a link to a paper pieced baby food jar.
http://www.winnowing.com/babyjars.html I've made several quilts using the regular sized "canning" jars. There are so many fabulous fabrics with items you might keep in a jar, candies, nuts & bolts, money, dice, bugs of all kinds, fruits, veggies, buttons, etc. I find them lots of fun to make and people love them. Especially kids. They can be a sort of "I Spy" quilt. These might make a fun trade. |
