I have this sewing machine, it was my first sewing machine. I bought it back in the early 90s i think. Do you know if this was made by another company? I have googled and googled but have found nothing on it.

Can you post a picture? I'm wondering if this is like the older Montgomery Wards machines. The one I worked on for my aunt was white plastic and a pretty basic machine.

Sure, here are couple pics. This machine gave me fits but i think alot of it was me :) It has been used very little so still is in good shape.

That's a little more advanced than my aunt's machine; has a variety of stitches which hers did not have.

I'm not sure the manufacturer is important. Is there a specific reason why you are looking for more information about this machine? It's a good basic machine that I personally would keep for a backup machine. It's the type of machine I love to find in thrift shops for the non-profit I donate machines to. If it were dirty and kind of wrecked looking, I would be happy to get it for $30 or so. In mint condition such as yours, not sure what its value might be -- maybe $45-50? It's not old enough to be vintage or collectible, so most of its value lies in how it works and how it looks.

Yes, i am planning to keep as a back up but was wondering because i thought about maybe getting some different feet/foot for it. Are there universal feet?

It looks like your machine takes a short shank foot. These are widely available and fit all short shank machines. Here are websites with a little more info:

Most store machines are built by another company. For example Maytag used to make Kenmore appliances, I believe that there is another company making Kenmore appliances now but I don't remember who the repair man told me it was. So, my guess would be that another larger company made the JcPenney's machine. You might ask a sewing machine repair person they might be able to shed light on who.

I was wondering if any of you could assist me on how to thread this machine. I got it from my step dad and it doesn't have a manual. Any suggestions on how to get a manual.

All of the old machines thread about the same and require oil in the same places (wherever two moving metal parts touch, except for gears which require lubricant instead of oil). I buy thrift shop machines to fix up for a non-profit and rarely need to look for a thread diagram or oiling diagram; they are all so similar. Thank you so much for your advise. I really don't know how to sew very good. I kind of just fake it. But the last time I tried to thread it, it didn't work. I don't see this model on the websites that you have sent and I can't really make out what they are telling me to do. I know, what a goof, huh? HA! HA! I will just keep on trying till I figure it out I suppose. Thanks for your help though.

Experiment. That's how I've figured out some machines. Be aware that the bobbin thread is supposed to go in a specific direction; one thing you might not think to try is turning the bobbin over so the thread comes off from the opposite direction.

Also, if you can post specifically what goes wrong when you thread it, we may be able to help. If it doesn't form a stitch at all, sometimes that means that the timing is off and needs to be adjusted by a technician; the problem may not be the threading.

I have the same exact machine, JC Penny 7064 but don't have the manual either. Right now I need the right way to thread the machine - I can find every model except the 7064. Can anyone help?

Most models from the same manufacturer thread the same, especially if they are close in model #.

Definitely made by another company. Penneys, Sears, etc. never were in the business of manufacturing machines. They just had them 'badged' with their name by the manufacturer.

What does your manual say about the machine? Most manuals have a trouble shooting section. Last time you had it looked at? I probably give my machine fits.

Ladies don't forget a few drops of sewing machine oil in the right places too!
