I would like to make a jelly roll 1600 for a queen size bed. How many jelly rolls would it take to make one that size?

It only takes one jelly roll. Make sure you cut off 18" on the first strip. If you don't all your seams will line up. This is a fun quilt to make. Our quild is currrently making them in red, white and blue fabrics for quilts of valor.

If you are making the strip quilt as in jelly roll race = then one jelly roll will result in a quilt about 50"x65" so you will need at least three rolls and possibly 4.

I have quilted some for customers and they've added a couple of borders to increase the size. Even with borders you will need 2 or 3 rolls I think.

Well, you've gotten a 1 a 2 a 3 and a 4. One will definately not be enough (unless you are just doing the very middle area with the strips and then adding in very wide borders), 2 will be pushing it, 3 CAN get you there, but 4 will definately be plenty. thats just my 2 cents :-), I've made a few myself and depending on what you do with borders will also be a factor in how many rolls you need.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Do you think that working with the number of strips in 3-4 rolls will be waaaay too cumbersome. Would I use the same "formula" as for one jelly roll and stop when I have the right width? Thanks again ladies and gents.
