Just yesterday, I found a pattern on jordanfabrics.com using jelly rolls for a table runner. The strips were laid at an angle so odd widths did not matter. You might give their website a look-see & maybe that option would work for you. Happy stitching! Kathy

I received several jelly rolls for my birthday and some of them were unusable. I used what I could for a rail fence. and some for string quilt and threw the rest in a pet bed. What a waste of money. Don't know where they came from. I suspect from the internet. Beautiful in the package; bad to use.

I discovered jelly rolls first from MSQC and I love them. Although I may be biased. I LOVE everything Missouri Star!!! Yes some are pinked but as long as you are consistent on the line you follow you are fine. I have not purchased rolls from Joanns but if I had, and ran into that problem, I sure would have returned them. It must not have been visually noticeable in the strips when you first unrolled them?

ALWAYS ASK IF THE JELLY ROLLS are cut by laser......I had the exact same problem with rolls from Nany's Notions...Hoffman batiks......they put me in touch with hoffmans....they were wonderful. They not only send me new laser cut jelly rolls, the sent 10 yards of a matching batik for my trouble. They said that their jelly rolls had been cut buy a electric cutter, but it was handheld. They have since gone to only laser cut Fabrics. I doubt that Jo-Ann's can make good with their supplier, since most of the boutiques come from countries outside of the US and they do not have the latest laser cutters

I have stopped buying 21/2" strip pre cuts from JoAnns after experiencing the same problem. I even took photos of the strips laid out on my cutting mat to show the uneven cuts and distinct Vee in the center of strips making them mostly unusable.
It's very frustrating as I have difficulty walking and shop mostly online and their online customer service was awful. Essentially I was told "Oh, too bad" and took a substantial loss using bits and pieces that I was able to square up myself.
When I AM able to go to the store the folks there are wonderful and helpful, but I still don't buy the precut strips anymore.
I haven't had any problems with strips bought from Connecting Threads, Keepsake Quilting or Hancock of Paducah or Missouri Star Quilting... all online purchases.
If you bought them in person you might be able to get a refund by returning them and actually show how badly they've been cut.
I'm so sorry that this happened to you and understand your frustration. I hope you are able to resolve it to your satisfaction.

I only use precuts as a "novelty" and check the size before beginning. Sometimes even in a charm pack there are a few that just don't "measure up."

I have been in the same situation with the same pattern. I was using white strips that I cut myself to go with the jelly roll from Joanns. I made do by sewing the 1/4 inch seam on my white strip and not stressing too much if the precut wasn't exact. It wasn't the easiest way to go, but it worked, and it was the last time I would ever buy their precuts. Well, I'll still buy FQ's. Good luck.

Unfortunately, not all "pre-cuts" are the same. :(

If you have several rolls that are similar, I would go through them and set aside the strips that are the most correct, and use those for the pattern you have on hand. For the ones that are just really inconsistent, I would use them up in a "Jelly Roll Race" just to get them out of the way.

Jelly Roll Race #2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9w9UOFj0CSo

By using them in the "Race" quilts, you won't feel quite as cheated, and you DO use them, and they WON'T accidentally get pulled back out for another project (thereby putting you thru all this agony all over again!)

I've very nearly quit buying precuts now, as I end up making my own out of my scraps.

Good luck with figuring this out.

I have bought quality quilt fabric, Moda specifically that was all different sizes in a 5" pack. They made it right but what a mess since I did not figure it out until I had sewed it partially. Just check all strips and charm packs would be my suggestion.
