Jelly Roll help
Hi, I do hope someone can help me. I recently brought a jelly roll fabric, precut. It says it is 6.4cm x 110cm and has 20 pieces in it. How big a quilt will it make or should I use two of the jelly roll precut groups

You will probably need to mix some yardage in with it. 20 strips is not a lot. I would find a pattern first and then see what it calls for.
|
If you were to sew the strips together, you would have a 40 x 42" quilt.
|
It really depends on the pattern. If just doing a race, it will be a crib size, I would estimate. If adding yardage, you could probably get to a twin.
Do you have something specific in mind? |
I used 2 jelly rolls and some fabric to make a twin-sized log cabin quilt.

Here's a link to a site that sells jelly rolls almost exclusively. She has a FAQ page that gives dimensional information. She also has a lot of free patterns:

That's not a typical jelly roll. They usually have about 40 strips. I think maybe they call that a jelly roll junior???

Thank you everyone, i had no idea what size i would have been able to make, i have never done a jelly roll quilt before. When i purchased the roll i actually brought two just in case. Many thanks for your help

I had a look at the site, it was so helpful with the information. Another question i have is..... when you make the jelly roll, do you put batting in it the same as normal and also i gather you back it also. am i correct.

Yes, copycat I have ordered from them several times. The fabric is good quality and the strips were even at 2 1/2". Lots of different fabrics to choose from, too.
