Jelly-Roll Race-Please Help

I made a charity quilt with some donated strips. It came together with a lightish spot in the middle so I appliqued some words.

I love some of the ideas presented in this thread.

Perhaps if you would have cut your first strip in half, then joined them by mitre it would be more appealing to you. Borders look good also. I liked the addition of flying geese panel. The pink one is beautiful. As a matter of fact so are he rest!

Quiltngolfer! How about some pretty balloons with inspirational sayings done by machine, i.e., your strength inspires me, believe, etc. She will love it no matter what you do.

Baloonatic ~ Thanks for sharing those beautiful quilt ideas! I would never have thought a JRQ could be so much fun! The first one just jumps out and is full of life! Quiltngolfer ~ You have so many good ideas presented here! I hope you find something that will make your friend feel better. Craftyheart2 ~ I love your quilt, too! It's another one I would go to if I needed a happy idea!

A piano key border would offset the straight up and down of the strips. A four patch border would also offset the straight up and down of the strips. A six patch border would offset the straight up and down of the strips. They are
a lot of fun to do. A diagonal grid would also offset the straight up and down of the strips, perhaps in a nice blue or a variegated red, white and blue thread. My best wishes to your friend. The side effects of the chemo can be horrible, and something comforting to throw around and wrap up in from a good friend means a lot.

I agree with the idea of adding something bright with applique. Using maybe raw edge flowers & cute bugs, of some kind.

To me your quilt says "peace" and that is what she needs right now. I would applique a couple of hearts on it to let her know you care and go with a border in one of the colors. Since it was a moda fabric you should be able to find the small amt needed for borders. So nice of you to do this for her. How about flannel or minkee for the backing if she is always cold.

Scalloped edges look great on these quilts.
