Last weekend bought two Moda jelly rolls in the Kansas Troubles design for only $11 each! They needed adopting. Trying to find ideas/patterns to use them. Borrowed two books from a friend but most patterns involved using templates or specialty rulers. Not crazy about the "lasagna" quilts. Other than log cabin, any suggestions?

Ohhh, lucky you...what a steal!!!! I am a huge Kansas Troubles fan and love all their lines.
Rail Fence is a good one too. |
Kaye Wood does a neat star block using strips and a 45 degree angle which is on most rulers & cutting mats. 45 degrees also makes neat kaleidoscope/spiderweb blocks.
60 degree triangles (equilateral) are also on most so you could make hex shaped spiderweb/kaleidoscopes or stars. |
Google "jelly Roll Quilts" then click on images for pictures.

Go to Lynne Hagmeier's blog at Kansas Troubles and take a look at some of her patterns. I LOVE everything that she does and her fabrics are my favorite Moda line. Also, JoAnn's has a lot of books on jelly roll patterns.
