I made my son a t-shirt quilt and used red and blue bandana prints for the sashings, borders, and backing. It was literally all I could find that wouldn't be "girlie". I really wish that we could have more masculine and gender neutral fabric choices.

I'm with momto5, I mostly shop online because of the poor slections at LQS and Joanns. Plus I get better prices.

I have an LQS with great selection here in Florida, but I've seen lots of great stuff online. Older boys like batik type fabric, geometrical prints, some of the urban prints, novelties etc. keep looking it's out there!

Jungle prints with grey accents.
Black and white with flame accents. Plaid with a brown accent. Black and white checkerboard for racing flag concept. Blues that read tone on tone. Red white and blue with strong stars. Strong designs with solids. One focus fabric with tones or geometrics. How about spending a little more on a specialty fabric for focus squares and then blending with others from Joanns or such? I have found a specialty fabric for most anyone. Lacrosse, bull riding, Ford Mustand or Ford Truck, tractors of all kinds, soccer, cards, computer fabric, etc. I used the bull riding fabric for my father in law who loved to watch bull riding on TV. I used gorilla fabric from a specialty store and added banana fabric and an assortment of leaf and stone fabric from joanns. |
Connecting Threads has a new Mastermind line in boyish colors with robots and such.
