I finally recieved my coupons in the mail after signing up for them about 3 times. To use the coupon commotion for 40% can they be used more than one coupon in a day as long as you have one item per coupon for each of the items?

quilterj 09-12-2010 12:31 PM

I was looking at the flyer that I just got and the coupons.
The flyer says that the sales are good from Sept.12 to Oct.2. The coupons are for Sept. 19-25 and some for Sep. 26 to Oct. 2. Well there is a fabric already on sale through those dates. What good are the coupons for if you can't use it for the sale items also?

That's been alot of folks sentiments! Even the fabrics that are not advertised on sale, are on sale for $1.00 off per yard so you can't use the coupon! They had some $9.99 yd fabric for $8.99 but I didn't see the $1.00 of sign. When I got to the counter expecting to use my coupon, I couldn't! I didn't want to spend $8.99 for that particular fabric so I just left it. It's just JoAnn's way to get people into the stores

Maybe we need to petion Joanns and ask that they don't have so many sales at one time or not have the coupons for those items they have on sale. Or even better yet LET US USE the coupons even if it is on sale. But then they would probably make the coupons only 10% to 20% off.

krisgray 09-12-2010 02:20 PM

Yes, you can use more than one coupon at a time as long as you have as many items as coupons. I've done it andsSaved big time.

krisgray 09-12-2010 02:24 PM

Definitely have to be creative when the big sales come around. Often end up buying little things. I noticed that the 108" quilt backing isn't on sale - 2 yds will do a twin size quilt - at 50% off - that's $10 and no piecing.

I also use the coupons for things like the magnetic book marks, magnetic strip roll and crafty stuff for my preschool son and his cousins. That's how I keep construction paper in the house - Joann's coupons.

They used to have a policy to raise the price of the sale item back to regular price and then use your coupon for the discount. I wonder why they stopped that practice?

I often don't use my JA coupons, but if I happen to be at Joann's and have valid coupons in my purse, sometimes I'll use them on something NOT currently on sale that I know I will eventually use, such as rotary blades or machine needles, etc. Sometimes there is nothing on the notions wall that I want, so I leave the store empty handed. Over the years, since Joann's store came to our neighborhood, I have saved hundreds of $$$ by using their coupons and I hope they continue to issue them on a regular basis; I don't get upset over the ones I can't use & which therefore end up in the trash. Sometimes I give them to other customers who CAN use them.

Our store makes you make a separate purchase for each coupon used, saying it's "one coupon per person per purchase."
Suits me. They can run my little debit card through that little machine as long as they want to stand there!

That's how I keep construction paper in the house - Joann's coupons.

One other place to get almost thigh high (haven't measured it for a long time) with clean white paper on a roll is from your local newspaper office. My local one has the rolls from that days' printing in the front, usually 3 to 5 dollars depending on size. One thin roll has lasted me for 5 or 6 years, plus being used for clothes patterns and some children's play. About the same amount left at least.

tooMuchFabric 09-12-2010 08:30 PM

Oh, newsprint. I hadn't thought of that.
I will see what they want for it here local.
Thanks!!

Alos, even if you buy something that's not on sale and can use the coupon, be sure to give them the highest price item first with the coupon or they will give you the 40% discount on the lowest price item, even if it is a spool of thread.

My neighborhood Joann's now has their computer system to where it automatically takes off the highest coupon % from the highest priced item. Also, it processes correctly all the purchases & all the coupons on one receipt/transaction & rejects any coupons that cannot be used for whatever reason, so I am rather amazed that all Joann's stores are not using the same computer system.

First of all....I Like the Coupons! I also like the sales!

JoAnns *doesn't* have to give coupons. They don't have to have sales. Getting a coupon; or for them to have sales for me to go to is not "a right" of life. It is a courtesy that they provide. (Thank you JoAnns.)

So what if I can't shop the sales with the coupons. I'm still getting a discount from JoAnns if I shop the sales. I'm still getting a discount if I use the coupons when they don't have sales.

I get my coupons in 3 different ways. I've signed up for the online coupons. I receive a JoAnn's flyer in every Sunday paper and they send a flyer to my mail box. I don't use all of those coupons but I use a good portion of them.

I must be lucky because the store closes to me is a friendly store where they will take all 3 coupons in the same transaction as long as it is going on a non-sale item.
They are also friendly at the cutting table and are very helpful.

For years, I couldn't afford the material at the lqs and it has been JoAnns fabric stores that have made it possible for me to stretch my money the most while the children were growing up. Now that they are out of college, I do some of my shopping at the lqs for material but I still check JoAnns for everything else.

Again...I want to thank JoAnns for the coupons and the sales that they provide.

Yes! You took the words right out of my mouth, even to describing the personnel at my local Joann's!

Kathy, I'm the same way.Our Joanns is great. Busy during sales, but that's to be expected.I buy flusible fleece with coupons, sewing notions, any quilt book or pattern needed.

Also like just wandering around the Joanns super store in the city to see what's new.I keep in mind what the difference in price would be (with or without coupons) at the local LQS.No comparsion.I'm glad to have Joanns.JMO

buslady 09-13-2010 09:05 AM

I think it is a strategy. You can buy anythign, as long as it is not on sale, so if they don't want it to be 40% off, they put it on sale. I just know that is the way it works and am glad for whatever discount I can get. I use as many coupons as I can, if don 't really "need" something right now I buy thread or grommets or some other item I know will come in handy latedr. My delemma is that if I do need something and don't have a coupon, and it is not on sale, I just HATE to pay full price!! I try to support my LQS, but use Joannes a LOT!

nativetexan 09-13-2010 09:51 AM

the coupons must be different. color and bar code.
but lots of fabric stores say you can't use your 40% coupon on fabric that is already on discount. and magazines are put 10% off so can't use a coupon on those either. must frustrating.

Beverly Fabrics and Hancock Fabric welcome Joann's Coupons where I live in Central Valley, Ca. It's a win win situation for me.

A FREAKING MEN!

I have said it before and I will say it again! If you don't like Joann's or the coupons they provide then please, save a tree and unsubscribe yourself from their mailing list. They WILL stop sending you fliers!

Now to answer the OP, yes you can use more than one coupon at a time. As long as the coupons all have different UPC numbers (the numbers under the bar code) HOWEVER, you can only use ONE coupon per ITEM! UNLESS you have a % off entire purchase, then you can use whatever other coupons you have and then use the % off the entire purchase!

This really does seem to be an increasing strategy for Joann's - at least in my area. For example, they NEVER used to put magazines on sale - but now they are often 10% off so you can't use a coupon on them. Patterns & books too etc
