Joanns new made in american fabric line
 

I emailed the manufacturer of the new Joanns fabric line that is made in America. I got a very quick response and tried to paste it here, but it wouldn't work. They said the "do not iron" was a mistake in labeling. The instructions are to wash in cold water, gentle cycle, non chlorine bleach, tumble dry low, remove promptly, warm iron. I still not understanding the warm iron part of it if the fabric is 100%. I know I use a hot iron when setting seams. Maybe they will post on the board, they did ask where the discussion was.

I did go look at the new fabric and it looks really nice. It says "Made in America" but not where in America. I would like to know where the factory is and I agree the "warm iron" has me wondering about the content of the fabric. The end label at Joann's definitely says "100% Cotton". I didn't buy any yet because I am very determined to finish my UFOs.

could they be afraid of the color running or staining . I've in the past hot ironed red fabs and it has stained the iron bord and the fab underneath? Just a thought

The same thing happened to me with a grey/ black/ red quilt I made for me son. I bought the fabric in question at Joannes, too. LOL

How much is it?
"Made in America" does not mean "made in USA"; From Canada thru Central America in "America.....or may even mean to include South America.....is "America".

I'll be very curious to see and feel how this fabric compares by hand and cost to Connecting Threads fabrics which are also Made in America". Connecting Threads has come a long way with their fabrics in the past 2-4 years. And the price is fantastic!

i agree Jan! their fabric lines are very pretty and the quality has improved so its "pettable" for the most part. nothing beats $11 a yard fabric for the feel, but with price isn't conducive unless you have a never ending pocketbook. i know i have to be working on something almost all the time in one form or another. most of the fabric i have picked up here on the board has been fantastic! kudos to all the gals who put in so much time and effort so list it and thanks tothe board for letting it be sold!

Connecting Threads fabrics aren't made in the USA either. No idea if they're made in another part of America but they have posted on their blog and facebook in the past that they aren't made in the USA.

If this was directed at my response, I am aware that CT fabrics are not USA made; that's why I made the connection between theirs and this new Joann's stuff. Even our beloved and well known LQS fabrics are no longer made here; little fabric is any more and certainly no quilting fabric.

I know that almost all of the fabric at Hobby Lobby is made in China or Korea. They have all of their bolts labeled as to origin.
