Joseph's coat....

I was on a site instructing doing a Joseph's coat via hand appliqué. Used stitch and wash on petals....new to me ad I don't do hand appliqué generally. Had anyone here used it? This tute was from Australia, I believe, and rather dated - 2009...... Interesting product...did look it up, made by floriani

What is stitch and wash? Never heard of it.

Never heard of stitch and wash either. It is nice to post where the site you are discussing is located on the internet.

Floriani Stitch and wash is a machine embroidery stabilizer that dissolves in water when the embroidery is finished. It is used whenever you do not want the stabilizer visible - i.e. free standing lace. I use it quite a bit for embroideries going into decorative pillows or quilts so there is not stiffness left that will affect the fabric "feel".

Red Rocks Threads in Nevada has an online shop that sells several different quantities of Stitch and Wash, and hundreds of products for machine Embroidery and other items. http://www.redrockthreads.com/result...=Stitch+n+wash

I've used this brand: http://www.amazon.com/Publishing-Was.../dp/1571209190

This one is also by C&T Pub, it just doesn't have Beth Ferrier's name on it: http://www.ctpub.com/wash-away-stitch-stabilizer/

There's probably similar Pellon products in your local Joann's and Hancocks.

dontlooknow.typepad.com was where I was.......

so after I post the site, I clicked to make sure and yes it's the site, but Joseph's coat tute is nowhere to be found....I originally found it via Pinterest.....goes to show how old some of these "pins" are. I get the Pinterest stuff via a email periodically, thanx to dd! I don't know how it works!
i apologize to those who might have wanted to see the technique...I should have saved it.

More info
dontlooknow.com Joseph's coat

I can't seem to get a direct line...this should take you to search, there are several parts....draft design, cut and sew, seem less.....

if not I'm sorry...I emailed it to myself, but can't seem to get it here! To share

Geri B 04-10-2016 05:09 AM

Don't try the above ....doesn't get you there and I tried to late to edit

do a search -- Don't look now Joseph's coat quilt along

that might work. I did send it to myself via email, but cannot get it to work when I tried putting it here....sorry

Great Tutorial. May have to try one block and see out it turns out. I would like to try it with a controlled scrappy look. Thanks.

Well, this is one of those patterns that I am really fascinated with...first saw a demo of it at a local, small quilt show, showing how to draft, and hand sew..she made it look so easy-well, not..at least for me, that's where I realized I could not eyeball a 1/4" seam, so that sits in a drawer. Then I found the templates for machine sewing....now that one I can do..have that ufo in another little drawer.......
this way was just a different approach...and that product I had not heard of, but I may try a table runner that way...but first I'll go to JAF and see if they have the comparable Pellon product

I'm wondering if a jelly roll would work for this??? Will have to get a protractor to draft it out to see. I can see this replacing my GFG, that is almost done, as my take along project. I've been eyeing this project for a while, but hadn't decided on a method for making it. Thanks for the link

In case anyone else was wondering, the petals are 1.5"x5.5". Finding a locking compass that was big enough was interesting. I finally got mine at Harbor Freight for $5. It isn't professional quality, but it worked for this no problem.
