The Joy of Fleece
With two quilts to finish and post by December 2nd. I turned to the sales at JoAnn's on fleece. The flimsies were done, just needed time to sandwich and sew. Oh my, I started at 8:30 this morning and finished the second one at 2:30 this afternoon.
Granted, I did not do fancy quilting, just loop de loop. I used Heat N Bond spray to hold them together, no pinning. I was careful not to stretch the backing too taut. Stitched the binding by machine. Fast and easy for anyone needing to get many done before Christmas. |
Thanks for this tip!

I’ve used fleece several times for quilt backing. I do not do batting when I use fleece. It makes for a soft, fluid quilt that is super snuggly.

Thanks for the tip, Toverly. I have a bunch of fleece I don't remember what I had it mind when I bought it. Now I know what I can do.

Can you do intricate quilting with a fleece backing/batting?
Or is it best to keep the quilting simple and not too close together? |

I started using a good quality fleece for my quilts several years ago. As I quilt all my own quilts on my Janome it is so much easier not to have to get 3 layers set up and ready to be quilted. I love using it.

I use fleece (no batting) on kids quilts. I usually tie them with embroidery thread and do a facing instead of binding. Once I put a diagonal plaid fleece on the back and followed the diagonal lines with my machine to quilt it. I think that was my favorite one.
