Thanks, Sharon I have an idea as who made this machine because it is a lot like my Universal 15 that I have in my studio. And I did a research project about this trademark and company for the NeedleBar. And it wasnt Japan!!! As far as the JA or JC numbers I do not think this machine will have any because of its age and Manufacturer, but you can never be too sure! ;) Also take a photo of the underside so I can see that also it can tell me more about the machine, and any markings that are on the parts under the machine. What a cute machine!

I was looking at this article and I would like to know what his sources are.  I know this was written in 2006 but still.......... The Machine that he shows in the photo is not even a Japanese built machine. It was manufactured by company in India. Then he is totally wrong about no records exist from these companies because I have a LARGE stack of records from several Japanese companies and the subcontractors that made their sewing machines sitting in front of me. I am far from an expert but for the last 2 years I have been working on the Japanese research and have been able to find out quite a bit about the industry over there. Other than working around the language barrier the companies are very willing to send you copies of their records if they have them archived and you know exactly what you are looking for. You dont even want to know what my phone bill looks like LOL!! He is right about the machines being better built and run smoother than the American counter parts, but remember they were trying to get into a market that was very hostile towards the Japanese. So the quality control had to be spot on and I love my Japanese 15! And they did have some really cool paint schemes! But they have caught on and the collector factor is their and in demand. Billy |
