Juki 2000QI question

I am thinking of getting a straight stitch only machine. I am 4 hrs away from any shops. My question is the Juki 2000QI says it does 1500 stitches per minute but will it go slow enough for piecing small blocks? I want a workhorse but one that will also go for a quiet Sunday walk in the country.

I also have a 2010Q and it has a speed control switch. You can manually control the speed, of course, but if you use the switch you can slow it down when you have your foot "pedal to the metal", too. They are wonderful machines for quilting but also are great for piecing.
