Juki 2010 knot problem?
I met a new friend at Guild last night who's Juki 2010 knots the first 3-4 stitches. Anyone else have this problem and how did you cure it? The only thing I could think of is it may be threaded wrong. Like in the three holes or the regulator. Any ideas?

By knotting, do you mean the thread makes a small messy nest on the underside at the beginning of the new seam? Mine does that sometimes so I started using a small leader piece just in case. Don't know what causes it!

That happens with my Janome 8900 when I used my automatic thread cutter before attempting to sew a new seam. The automatic seam cutter is not as great as everyone thinks She will need to use a leader.

My Juki 2010 rarely does this and I use the thread cutter all the time. My Juki F600 however makes a thread ball 90% of the time no matter what I do so I keep a scrap handy if I'm not piecing with leader/enders. Does your friend take off her throat plate and clean out the lint regularly? I'm good about cleaning the bobbin area but sometimes let things accumulate under the throat plate too long.

I never have had this problem but I always use a leader which is just a piece of scrap. I am just too old to learn to use a thread cutter. Tried it on a friend Janome 6600 and it was just too much of a problem to deal with.

Thanks Y'all. I'll see her at the day Guild meeting on Thursday and suggest the leader. I guess some machines do this and some don't. Thanks for the suggestions. :)
