Well, the Juki and frame that I asked about a few weeks ago is still available, so DH and I are taking a trip about 2 1/2 hours from us tomorrow to check it out. I am soooo excited! I think this will give me an idea whether or not I really like frame quilting, and from what I read, the Juki TL98Q is a good little machine. So....wish us luck...oooh...I'll never sleep tonight, and I have to work a half day before I can go! Yeow!

I've had that same machine since late February/ early March, and I LOVE IT! I got it along with a quilting frame from the local classifieds for a song. What I love about the machine is that it comes with all sorts of fantastic feet, even one with a 1/4 seam allowance guide, which is PERFECT for quilting, and of course a walking foot. I got a bit confused with the threading of the machine, but after the first few times of having to look in my manual I can do it easy, there's a lot of up and down with it. The machine is super heavy though.. a bit over 25 pounds; my poor little 4'11" self has a hard time lugging it around. I'm sure you're gonna LOVE it! I know I do!

What frame are you getting? Mine came with the Grace GMQ pro with all of the extension tables and the like. I haven't used it yet, but it's set up and ready to go.

Congrats! I hope you get it.

I can't wait to hear from you. I have had a Juki for a number of years and loved FMQ on it. It's a workhorse. I got a frame a couple of months ago to use with it and I am in heaven. I hope you get it. Keep us posted.

It comes with a New Joy Quilting Frame (Frame width is 105" ).
I believe it was $999 new, and will accommodate up to a 13" machine, so I figure if I get good at FMQ on a frame, I could upgrade sometime in the future.

A friend of mine JUST bought a Juki TL98Q!! I was there when "Flo" arrived. So excited for her. Now, my husband saw it last night - he's FINALLY gotten the idea that quilting can be done but does not need a LONGARM... maybe I'll get one after all! :)

Just remember the magic words: "Juki Likes Oil"! I love mine so much. She does need to be cleaned and oiled at least every 8 hours of sewing. It's easy to do, and she'll clack if you don't do it. but if you do, she'll purr.

Congratulations. I bet you'll never give her up!

nursie76 05-15-2010 03:37 PM

Thanks, can hardly wait to get her set up. She will be in the dining room temporarily until get a room in the spare room in the basement cleared of years accumulation of "stuff". But I amgoing to set her up ASAP!
Thanks for sharing my excitement.

Thanks, I am working on making room to set her up temporarily in the dining room until we get our oldest DD's old room (in the basement and uninhabited for a long time - translate into junk/storage room) ready for her. ;-)

I already posted in for sale but wanted to let any Juki owners know I have a frame and cruise control that go with the juki for sale. Just check in that thread.

Actually, I did got her last year, and learned a lot...great machine. Learned that I could do more if I had more throat space so this April, my DH made a great deal with my Bernina dealer and Blossom and frame went to a new home and I now have an 830 LE with 12" throat.

The only thing I will miss is that the Juki was soooo fast! Great machine and a great one to have if you are not sure you will like quilting on a frame.
