Juki or Janome Mid Arm ??? Advice please
 

I had a chance to buy a "viking" machine from a board member, but no one services them near me, so I had to pass. :( Now my sweet husband has been looking around with me. I can find Juki & Janome sales/repair services close by, but which one is the better machine??? Oh please let me also say that husband has been looking more at the price than anything else. LOL. He has set the limit $1000.00 or less, but no more. :shock: I would just like to be able to sew my own quilts without having to send them out. Any & all advice is welcome.

If it were my choice and I could find it within my budget I would go with Juki. Not that Janome doesn't make good machines - they do - however, Juki's base is industrial machines, that knowledge and technology transfers over to their home machines. They are strong, capable machines that will last a very long time.

I have plenty of regular sewing machines but I am lusting after a Juki serger.
Enjoy with whichever you choose. Neither is a bad machine.

I would get a Juki. Have been pricing them. Lowest price I found online for the TL2010Q has been $935 with free shipping on eBay. Even if you purchase locally, it doesn't hurt to have some price comparisons to bargain with.

Be sure to check out the Amazon reviews and Google for additional Juki reviews. There is another Juki model, the TL-2000Qi, that is not as good as the 2010 and sells for less money. The 2010 is the better model, based on the research and reviews I have done online.

I use to have two Jukis, traded the oldest in on a Babylock Jane. I still have the one Juki and love it for quilting. It was the TL98 QE without the extension table. Had a plexiglass extension table for a different machine and a friend cut it to fit the Juki and now it is easier and wonderful to quilt with. I have done up to an oversized queen. I think the Juki would be your best choice, just my opinion. Good luck with your choice. Lucky you.

I have the Juki TL2010 and it is great for fmq, however, it is a straight stitch only machine. I've used it for piecing also with great speed. I also bought the Juki F600 which has 250 stitches but the throat space is a little smaller than the 2010. I make bags and like to use the decorative stitches for a little bling. I paid $899 for both of these machines at Ed Raichert in Arizona with free shipping. I don't believe the price has changed but they were great to work with.

I would say you cannot go wrong with either one. they are great machines
both of them.

Best advice is to go to both dealers and sew on each machine. See if they have any 'gently used' machines for sale in your price range that have a warranty. Good luck finding a new machine.

every time this question comes up i always give the same answer...get the Juki! LOL

I have a Juki and will never go back. it is only a straight stitch but I stipple my own stuff and just love the power. the motor is so so so fast.
Go try them both.
Mine is a juki tl98Q, I also have a singer and a brother but love love my Juki
If I need to zigzag I just use my brother or singer for special stitches.
