Which Juki model?
 

I want to replace my main sewing machine and was quite impressed with the Juki 2010Q. I love the simplicity of it. However I do garment and craft sewing too, so I will need zigzag, buttonhole etc. Is one of the other Juki models simple like the 2010Q, but also has zig zag and so on. I do not need or want the lots of embroidery stitches necessarily. Thanks for your help.

I purchased a JUKI DX-2000QVP this last February. It does not do embroidery. But it has loads of features that I truly love. I do piecing, garment sewing and other craft sewing. All the features make my work a breeze. A couple of things I like is the automatic foot lift when you stop to make it easier to pivot, and the fact it sews through eight layers of denim like it's going through butter - with no bogging down on the needle. Love it!!!

I purchased the HZL-DX7 in April. I believe it is basically the same machine as the DX-2000QVP, minus some presser feet. I'm in Canada, and was told that the DX-2000QVP wouldn't be available here. Anyway, the DX7 is a great machine. I've used it for piecing, FMQ quilting, applying binding, doing decorative stitches on crazy quilt blocks, etc.

I don't do garment sewing any more, but the machine has all the features you would need for that. It comes with many presser feet. It's very quiet. I've used different types of thread with no problems whatsoever.

I would have liked a larger harp ... but I have the TL2010Q for quilting larger projects.

I would strongly suggest that you look up information on this machine. It might be what you're looking for.

HZL-27Z and HZL-29Z are both simple, mechanical machines with a few different stitches. However you loose harp space, knee lift and thread cutter that the 2010Q has. I love my HZL-F600, but it is computerized with many stitches.

Can someone do a comparison on the babylock Jazz and the Juki dx 2000 qvp? Thank you

If I remember correctly, the original Babylock Jazz didn't have the "needle down" option. But maybe the Jazz II has that feature.

Also, although the Jazz has 12 inches to the right of the needle, the harp is not very high which would affect visibility when free-motion quilting.
