Am doing a project which needs quite a few strips cutting....has anyone tried the june tailor shape cut with the slots in it ?....wondered if it was worth investing in.......

Jim's Gem 04-05-2011 03:46 PM

YES!!! I have one, it is my 3rd one in 12 years. I use it for practically everything!!!

sueisallaboutquilts 04-05-2011 03:46 PM

Absolutely, definitely!!!
I got one at Joann's with a 50% coupon and love it! Now of course I want them all lol

I absolutely love mine...I use it for any strip project and also when I'm cutting squares....it's accurate and quick.

I got one for Christmas this year and love it!

Yes, I have two. One is marked for 1 or 1/2 inches
and the other one is marked also for the 1/4 inch
measurements. I have been making "Just One Star"
project the some are doing here on the QB. This
tool makes it a breeze in making the cuts for
the stars.

Yes, I have 4! I love them. I originally bought 2 one with the half inches slots and one that includes the 1/4 inch slots.

I wasn't paying attention and pressed hard on the edge of the ruler where it wasn't on the table and snapped it. I immediately went online and ordered a new one, (although the old one could still be used) and a larger one.

Today at a Sit n Sew, the woman next to me had one. She cut out binding for 5 quilts and let me use it to cut out borders for a wall hanging I was working on.

This is probably the best investment I have made since quilting besides my sewing machine, rotary cutter and mat!

Go for it!

Love, love, love it. I've had mine for many years!:)

auntmag 04-05-2011 04:31 PM

Yes, it makes cutting multiple strips so much quicker and is very accurate. I use mine a lot.

TerryQuilter 04-05-2011 04:38 PM

I would love one, but if I fold my fabric twice I always get wonky strips. What am I doing wrong?

patchsamkim 04-05-2011 04:50 PM

Definitely worth the money!!! I love this ruler/cutting tool!

I just got one 3 weeks ago... It's great. I don't know how I did my cutter before this.

gmasandee 04-05-2011 05:17 PM

I ordered one online just before we left on vacation. . .where I am at this time. Yes, I brought my sewing machine on vacation. I am using the Shape Cut for the first time and I love it!!

nursie76 04-05-2011 05:18 PM

I have 2, the medium and large. I love, love, love them! Used my 50% coupon at Joann's both times.

SnowQuilt 04-05-2011 05:25 PM

Yes definitely worth it. I have one and I love it. Got it at Joannes about 3 years ago and use it all the time. :)

meemersmom 04-05-2011 05:27 PM

I've already worn out one of the 1/2" size and am on my second one. And, I also have the 1/4" size, which isn't used as much, but is still handy.

Painiacs 04-05-2011 06:13 PM

I love it! Get the largest cuts 1/4" on up! Before I wasted material now cuts r perfect unless I mess it up !lol

pocoellie 04-05-2011 06:21 PM

I absolutely LOVE my June Tailor Shape Cut. One of the best buys I ever made. They have a larger one, but that only has slits for 2 1/2" cuts, which is fine if that's all that you work on, but I prefer the one with the 1/2" slits, much more useful in my mind.

Little RoO 04-05-2011 10:38 PM

Thank you all.....ordering one today !

cathylynn 04-05-2011 11:01 PM

ok, will definitely invest in one of these
BEFORE I start cutting all the strips needed for my nephew's 2 twin sized Summer in the Park quilts. thanks for the info.

nellebelles 04-05-2011 11:09 PM

I absolutely love mine--couldn't do a lot of what I do without it!

When I use it where I have to fold the fabric twice, I am just really careful with the folding. I even measure to make sure the two folds are the same distance apart across the length and I use one of the black lines on the shape cut ruler to make sure it's perfectly perpendicular to the cut lines.

CoventryUK 04-06-2011 12:21 AM

Well worth the investment!! Wouldn't be without mine!!!

bverste 05-18-2011 04:52 PM

I just bought one and after cutting out for my project began looking for other things to cut. I love it!

brushandthimble 05-18-2011 04:56 PM

You just reminded me I could use mine to cut the 18 2inch strips I need. Thank you for the question:)
