If you read the instructions that came with the Shape Cut it shows you how to cut strips, squares, triangles, diamonds, fringe, hexagons, chevrons, & bias strips. So it definitely does more than cut strips.

Why is it called Shape Cut? The name alone would make me think it would also do squares and triangles. Why not Strip cut if that's what it does? I see there are some rulers for the shapes, but the name is misleading.
It does ! http://www.junetailor.com/shapecutvideo.htm |
It will cut triangles .Wait until Joanns has 50% off coupon.

I would wait to buy from Joann's once I have the 50% coupon. Amazon has it too.

Thanks for all your comments. I ended up ordering the Shape Cut Pro from Amazon for $51.99 with free shipping. It's easier and cheaper than driving 80 miles round trip to get one from JoAnns.

What are the make of your other rulers? As an experienced quilter I wouldn't recommend that you stick with the same maker of ruler that you currently use. That's an awful lot of money. If your going to spend this amount of money on ruler stick to one brand.

Since the OP i realized that i have been using my shape cut pro for every quilt now. I love 2 1/2" strips for binding. For me, it was definitely worth it. I've even used it for making a bag.
It's the best ruler investment i have made so far. |

I think if you want to cut a 24" strip you want the very big one which they have at Joann's - 23"x20" wide so you can whoosh right up those 2 1/2" strips. I have one and I love it.
http://www.joann.com/search?q=June%20Tailor%20shape-cut $83 bucks and I gotta say if you car cutting strips it beats moving the ruler and trying not to wiggle the fabric at every whoosh! |
Same item sold by two different Companies, only difference is the price
