Just bought The Cutting Edge Sharpening Ruler by Sullivan's - does it work?
We just got back from New Hampshire where I spent a couple of hours in Keepsake Quilting in Center Harbor, New Hampshire looking at all the notions that I only see in catalogs and online. I picked up a 9.5" square "the cutting Edge sharpening Ruler by Sullivan". It has a diamond carbide edge with helps keep the rotary blade sharp as you cut. I just started using it and I think it does work. My next purchase will be the 6" x 24" ruler. I have tried sharpening tools on my rotary blade and didn't like them. I hate throwing away a blade when it begins to skip - they cost so much and it seems like I am being wasteful. Has anyone used the Sullivan's sharpening ruler? What do you think?

Keep us posted! A lot of us have had a lot of trouble with them. A year or more ago I was in discussion with the "CEO" because even after replacing the small and the large (6 x 24") ones I bought at the store and then having the company replace them they just chewed up my blades. The first ones I got - the metal "sharpener" edge stuck out beyond the plastic ruler edge making them measure bigger. I wrote a whole explanation with pictures when I sent the rulers back. The 1/4" measurement is crucial to trimming my pieces and the rulers were a dead loss for that.
Sorry to be negative, but wanted you to check yours while there is still time to return them by looking at the short end to see if the metal sticks out (mine was even angled so the blade wanted to ride up on it). And measure this ruler by another for the 1/4" and other dimensions. You may be able to search the board for other posts. |

Here's the link to my post! Good luck with it and PLEASE let us know if they have improved! I love my Creative Grids! |
I have a Tru Cut electric blade sharpener. It does a great job of sharpening and will pay for itself in no time.

I have a Cutting Edge and think it works great?! I've been using it for months now because I am too lazy to change my blade. I don't do massive amounts of cutting but it works for what I am doing.

Not if you are left handed.
