Just finished my first quilt, things I learned.

Consist seams are important, if you don't your corner intersections may not match up.
I should have squared up my blocks and I think my corners would have matched.
If your backing is the same size as your top, do NOT hand baste from the back side...can you say waves?
Stitching in the ditch is harder than you think in the beginning but it does get easier.
When stitching in the ditch white thread isn't the best choice.
Plush fleece wasn't so bad even though it stretches both ways.
The longer nap side of the plush fleece is the wrong side. (I didn't realize that until I had the quilt basted 2/3 of the way.)
I do NOT like hand sewing the binding onto the back, it takes forever.

Even though my quilt isn't perfect, it is perfect for what our family will be using it for.

We'd love a pic of your acchievement. If a quilt was perfect, we'd all be afraid to use it. I'd rather enjoy wrapping myself in a not quite perfect quilt, than just look at a perfect one.

I was always trying to match seams perfectly. I learned from these wonderful folks, that if you can't notice from riding by on a galloping horse, not to fret

Wow, you say it's not perfect, but it looks perfectly wonderful to me! Enjoy it and don't forget to have fun while you quilt.
