I hope this link comes thru for you Bonbonary if not just Google janome 6600 cruise control. I'm guessing it's an attachment that you can buy seperately.

I have a 6600 and love it. I have had it for about 6 years now. I wouldn't trade it for anything. My advice like everyone else, test drive the machines and collect info so you can compare them and see what you want for your machine. Good luck in your choice.

I have the 6600P & I love it. Horizon hadn't come out, but I'm not even gonna look at it as I love my 6600P. Bought it in 2006.

I also went on the Janome website and it seems they consider the stop/start button to be a cruise-control type of feature because you don't need to use the foot pedal. I never use the stop/start button with quilt piecing, but maybe I'll give it a try. The only advantage I can think of is that your speed would be consistent.

I also have the 6600 and love it! The Acufeed is fantastic and I use it even for regular piecing - for eg if sewing long strips, you don't get the bend and bow at all! And for FMQ it's also fabulous - I prefer a gliding foot rather than a hopping one so bought the optional foot and the blue dot bobbin case which helps with tension. I was lucky that a friend had the machine so was able to have a go on hers first before committing to it. I got mine just over a year ago and shortly before the Horizon came out - I could upgrade but manage fine on the 9" throat. I'm currently quilting a 70" x 54" quilt on it, no problems.

I have had the Janome 6600 for 6-7 yrs and unfortunately it has died. Is it a good machine...you bet! I have spent many, many hours on that machine and will get another one as soon as I can. I love the stop/go button (no foot pedal), the autothread cutter, the built-in walking foot, the durability of the machine, and the list goes on and on. Yes it is a little more expensive than some macines, but, not as expensive as others. The 9" throat gives you lots of room, and I have quilted everything from baby blankets to several kingsize quilts on it. It was and will be the best investment for me for an all purpose sewing machine. When I got it, I didn't bother with a lesson, just took her home and began road testing her myself. I really can't say enough good things about the 6600.

I recently hurt my foot (doing an exercise class - knew that stuff wasn't good for you! :mrgreen: ) and the push button was great then! :-D The speed control is great too when quilting, I set it down to my comfort speed then put the pedal to the metal! :-D

I recommend that you go to a dealer and sit and sew. You will bond with the machine that best fits YOU! Most dealers want you to sit and sew in order to get all your questions answered. Tell them that you are looking and need answers, you will not be pressured. that is if they want your future business and believe me they do!!

I have the 6600, and totally love it. It quilts beautifully, the accufeed system, is the 'foot' that you bring down to quilt with. I have had no problems with the backing folding, or messing up, at all. It is worth every penny. Don't be afraid to go see a demo at your Janome dealer, that's what they are there for. If you feel pressure, just say, well I am still looking for ideas, and am having a hard time deciding.

I have 2 Janomes one of which is the 6600 - Its a work horse and I love it. I have even quilted a queen size quilt on it.
