Well thats what they said! I read that when learning to use a sewing machine on a frame that a glass of red wine would help. For some reason the tension(mine) is at about an 8 and I hold my breath. So what the heck I'll give it a try, and you know they were right! Those wonky stitches dont look so bad after all! So when I post a picture of the quilt I'm working on you all have a little nip and those wonky stitches will look great!

dkabasketlady 09-16-2011 05:31 AM

Thanks!! I'll have to try this tip, lol!!

alikat110 09-16-2011 05:35 AM

Let us know, and we'll have "just a little" before we view it!!!

Bonbonary 09-16-2011 05:36 AM

LOL. Give us a warning so we can be ready.

lindy-2 09-16-2011 05:44 AM

ha ha i heard that about having a baby to a glass off wine is suposed to take the edge off t he pain. i think you might need more than a glass for that though maybe a bottle?

Grama Lehr 09-16-2011 06:12 AM

Will white wine do the trick? ? ?

Highmtn 09-16-2011 06:14 AM

I'm a WIMP. If I had a nip of a-n-y wine you'd find me sleeping face down at my sewing machine. I'm a "Sugar Free Red Bull" kinda gal....LOL

Chicca 09-16-2011 06:27 AM

LOL. I will have to give this a try the next time I try FMQ! Thanks for sharing.

I don't like the taste of alcohol drinks of any kind, but, I do try to stay relaxed and that seems to help. Do what works for you, just relax.

Hmm, not while I'm quilting, but maybe before viewing the finished product for the first time.

WOW, no telling what kind of design you come up with.
Have another glass and its going to look wonderful.
My first try without wine is a real keepsake. Im sitting on it right now, makes a great seat cover.

Buckeye Rose 09-16-2011 08:38 AM

jad1044 09-17-2011 06:57 AM

I'm in the process of making grape wine right now - and when cleaning up after the wine works over the edges of the jars, yesterday i decided to sip a bit of the run-off - the rest of the day went so smoooooooooooooooooooooth!!! :) You'd be surprised!

P.S. The wine is not officially done till the first week of december, but it sure was good already yesterday!

OmaForFour 09-17-2011 07:32 AM

I would opt for a shot or two of Jack Daniels for that!

My aunt (82) in Kentucky had an old garage behind her house converted into her quilting studio. She hand quilted on a large frame. I went out one morning and saw that she had a quilt partially finished on the frame. On top of the quilt was a half-pint bottle of Kentucky's finest - to keep her arthritis at bay. So, yes, a little alcohol can ease the quilting greatly.

Maybe that's the answer to the question I frequently ask, which is, "Can you name one positively good thing that drinking alcoholic beverages adds to any person's life?"

We have a 50 gallon wine barrell in the garage full of wild cherry wine. Made it last summer...guess at this point it's a half-barrell.

Got mine ready! May even practice a little before you post the photos!

leatheflea 09-17-2011 01:28 PM

Back in my 20's and 30's I too made what we called "hooch" tasted more like brandy. Been awhile since I've made a batch, might need to do that, where do you get a whiskey barrel?.....lol

kacy 49 09-17-2011 06:32 PM

I like Bailey's too, especially the home made!!!
