As soon as I'm on the computer this is the first place I go. Then to the email. If I leave for more then 10 minutes I go here first to make sure I didn't miss anything. ( like Patrice and Tim's daily squabble) I feel like all my best freinds are here. This is definately the best place to be.

Ditto for me. I even get up early to see what I missed. As for the knots, can you use a crochet hook to pull the knots into the back and bury them in the batting?

I don't know. That might be a way to do it. Thanks

PJ, do you have one of those little gadgets for pulling snags back in sweaters and such? They are plastic with a tiny hook that closes after the pulled out thread is captured. Usually the handle is only a couple inches long, so you should be able to thread them within 4 inches or so of a seam.

Does anyone know if they have a name besides snag puller?

No I just use a crochet hook for that. I have a lot of gagets, but I don't have that one. Thanks

My husband asked this morning, "How are the quilters today?" So, you might say I check in often!
Good friends are the best and I certainly feel everyone here fits in that catagory. :D

I really don't get out much. I have no birth siblings. I have a sister (in law...don't count the -in-law part)...a BIL...a B(est)F I never see and rarely hear from anymore...my hubby that works too much at home and at work...Mom and Dad that I go see about once a week, sometimes more....and I have friends on-line that I know for real. MySpace. That's about my only contact with the outside world other than here. I know I have other ppl that I see and talk to occasionally, but...you guys are all here for me every day. When I go rambling on and on...Like I'm doing now...you comment back if you want to...and it makes me happy. I'm a SAHM...I get into lots of crafts... it keeps me sane!
and BTW....I did my first applique`...it's a cow. It's no where near finished. just a cow. no details. I don't even have all the strings cut off it! And I wish these darned keyboards/computers were a little bit more smart/smarter so I could spell aplique` with the accent mark in the correct place! And words like pin~ata with the "~" over the "N" ...why does it even have the punctuation there if you can't use it correctly?
OK< so. forgive me for rambling, but you are the only ones who listen to me!!!!!!!! My mom lets the kids talk over me and answers them. If I don't continue with what was important to me, she goes on with her stories!!!!!!

You bet! I do have to squeeze time on the Board in between work, keeping my guild website up to date, doing my treasurer stuff for the So. Calif. Council of Quilt Guilds (my second term is up this year....anyone interested?? ), quilting and everything else, but I do manage to find some time everyday. And, silly me, I just took on getting some volunteers to do some quilting demos as part of an educational fundraiser for Chino Hills State Park Living History Day. (Again, anyone interested??)
But it is wonderful to come to the Board & read all the encouraging words. It's definitely a feel-good place to be! :D

Miranda,
I can identify with a lot that you are saying. The year that I retired my husband and I sold our house that we'd lived in for 30+ years and moved north. I left the county that I'd grown up in to come up here where the only people I know are my brother and sister-in-law. I don't make friends easily. There are times I just get real blue (cabin fever?) and wish I was back in southern California with my old teaching buddies and the warm sunshine!

Being a SAHM is a wonderful occupation. I wish I could have had that experience but alas it was not to be. As wonderful as it is though it's one of the hardest jobs around and doesn't always get the respect it should receive. My daughter, another SAHM, calls often and I know it's just so she can talk to an adult for awhile.

Thank goodness for the internet. It does help us retain our sanity and keep in touch with the real (?) world! Hang in there and write whenever you feel the need!

Yup, I agree with being hooked. I was so thrilled when I found this web site :!: At lst somebody loves to "talk quilts" as much as I do. I don't belong to a guild and work at a rock quarry with a bunch of guys who would not have a clue as to what I mean if I said tied or machine quilted or appliqued or pieced? I love all you guys, but I admit Patrice and Tim ought to charge for their entertainment! Its the best
