I've never found out how long it takes to drag one out. I always throw my body down in front of the wheels before it hits the water. Man, am I sore!!

Norah 03-29-2007 02:34 PM

Annette, That's close. We pray for your safety. And everyone else, too. Tornadoes are ugly.

mimisharon 03-30-2007 04:50 PM

Hooked on this board? Moi? Of course, that's why I have way more time on the puter than I should. I check in here first to be sure not to miss anything. It's home for me. When I was away for the wedding stuff and my mom....I felt lost. How do people that don't have this group manage? I have lots of friends here where I live, I have lots of 'net friends, but no where else is near as much fun. I haven't even had IM on lately, except for small amounts of time.

Oh, well, there's nothing better than a shared interest to make friends. I just don't know how loners make it in the world, do you?

PJ 03-30-2007 05:02 PM

We join this quiltboard to make friends. I lost my mom two years this month. I know how hard it is to have some kind of like and take care of a parent. Sometimes you have more shared interests with strangers than your close friends. Does that make sense.

mimisharon 03-30-2007 05:09 PM

PJ, it makes sense to me. Maybe because I just came from a bad experience in WV. Maybe it's really just me???

Debbie Murry 03-30-2007 05:13 PM

Yes it does. I have 2 sisters that live about 30 miles from me. When my mom was ill we all took care of her. Since she died I hardly see them any more. Every few months we get together and go visit mom and dad (they're both dead). Other than that we have nothing in common. It's hard to talk to them anymore. If I show them my new projects I get teased for being an old lady. At least you guys understand me. That's why I love you all so very much.

mimisharon 03-30-2007 05:25 PM

I'm with you Debbie, I'm with you!! And now it's time for this 'old lady' to give up the quest for the night. I've GOT to force myself to get back on that quilt for my niece. Someone please (puh leeesssseeee) make me stay out of here tomorrow and get it working. She's getting married May 12th. Isn't that real soon??? Debbie, you have the onerous duty of telling me to shaddup and get on the quilt tomorrow, ok???

Sharon

Debbie Murry 03-30-2007 05:32 PM

I could never tell anyone to shaddup but I will say goodnight to all. I've had a cold this last week and I took some nyquill. It's starting to kick in so I'm going to bed. Talk some tomorrow. Nite all.

patricej 03-31-2007 01:19 AM

I'll tell her. Sharon, Dear ... Shaddup and get back to work!

Now that i've fulfilled your request to be told, fulfill my request that you ignore it. give the girl a David's Bridal flyer and tell her to leave you alone. LOL

I could really relate to PJ's post about her mom. one of the reasons i started quilting was that i so much missed sewing with my own mother. this was a way to reconnect to those memories. we always made clothing and decorative things. now that i think of it, i'm a bit surprised we never got around to quilts. but i know she'd have loved it and if she was still with us, would have joined the fun with me (and been 10 times better at it within 10 seconds flat. LOL)

We are none of us here Old Ladies. We are old souls ... even the youngest among us. that simply means we have the wisdom to recognize those things truly most important and lots of love to pass around. we know that however much love we give, our hearts will produce more for the next person to come along. :-)

mimisharon 03-31-2007 06:23 AM

Oh, so true, Patrice! Love begets love.

XOXOXO
Sharon

Norah 03-31-2007 07:16 AM

You all are the best. That is exactly how I feel! :-) :-) :-)

Yvonne 03-31-2007 07:20 AM

Patrice,
You do have a way with the words.
From one Old Soul to Another,
Yvonne

PJ 03-31-2007 07:36 AM

And that is why I want to belong!!!!!! I am working on a block that was in the ones I got from Patrice. The X-box I almost have it cut and I have the colors arranged =. I'm excited. I'm excited.

patricej 03-31-2007 07:50 AM

i'm glad to hear that. :-)

I only joined this forum last Friday. I"m HOOKED and soooo addicted!!! I come into work every morning and the first thing I do is check this site!!!! I used to check my Facebook first, that becomes the second thing LOL.
I am really enjoying this site and love looking at everyone's gorgeous creations!!! I now check this site a few times a day and then at night!! I would HATe to miss anything!!! LOL

And not to mention all the wonderful new friends I will be making here!! I LOVE IT!

I am hoping to work on this month's BOM between now and the weekend! I am hoping to get some of my photos posted here soon too. I will look through my portfolio on my laptop tonight and pick out a few things :) But for now I can show you all what I am teaching this season.. I will do it shortly

cheers

imaquilter 02-19-2008 06:26 AM

I am in there with you all. The board is the first thing I check every morning. Check it a few times throughout the day and once before going to bed. I don't post as often as I'd like to as we have dial up and it takes so long just to view what everyone else has posted. But soon, 2 weeks, I will be moving and will be in an area that has wireless hi speed internet (yea!) and I can post, post, post.

I have been a member for over a year and love it here. Everyone is so nice and it is wonderful to share with all of you. You start out by sharing your quilting passions and find that you have this in common and that in common and it soon becomes so much more than a quilting comraderie, it's a new family.

Joan 02-19-2008 06:52 AM

Yes, I am guilty as accused......I will be retiring in June and looking forward to lots of time to quilt. Until then, I sneak in time in the evenings and live vicariously through everyone's beautiful projects on this board. It's the first place I look in the morning before school.

~Joan

p.s.--PJ, finish that quilt and post a pic, okay? You'll be much happier with your quilt if you "fix" it. I can't believe the number of seams I rip out because corners did not meet "just right"......

ddrobins1956 02-19-2008 11:45 AM

This site is definitely my favorite. I check in at least twice a day. I love to see the pictures that everyone posts. Whether they be of projects, sewing rooms, fur babies, family, etc. I feel like I am getting to know all of you. We all have something in common, the love of creating beauty with our hands. Wish I could have you all over for tea and sweets and an afternoon spent sewing and talking. That would be great. :)

Minda 02-19-2008 04:37 PM

I'm definitely a Quilting Board junkie. Check it once or twice a day (at least). :D :D

bj 02-19-2008 04:46 PM

I too love this place. I check it constantly if I'm at home (and I usually am). The only thing that competes with it is the two days a week my grandson goes to day care/preschool. They have webcam in his classroom and I love to watch him. Not crazy about him having to be there, but he seems to enjoy it. He definitely needs the experience of playing with other kids his size. He's mostly around adults and doesn't really know how to play with little kids. I switch back and forth on his school days. I'm trying to talk DH into a laptop so I can sew and watch Nick and the boards all at the same time. :) :) Keep your fingers crossed, I think I'm wearing him down :D

PamH 02-19-2008 05:34 PM

Oh ya, I'm hooked too. I check this board out several times a day. Don't what to miss something. Check my email then come straight to here

Lois-nounoe 02-19-2008 05:38 PM

Like Imaquilter I too have the dail up. THis is the last message on the board to read for the night. Yes I'm addicted too. Started reading at 5pm and it is now 8:30pm. Just takes sssooooo lllllooooonnnngggg to read EVERYTHING!!! But would feel I missed something if I didn't do them all. Addicted doen't have the right ring to it. Maybe we should say "We're married to the board"? (I don't think my hubby gets this much attention)

DebJ 02-19-2008 06:59 PM

I would be afraid a crochet hook even a fine one might leave a bigger hole than I would like in the fabric as you work to get the knot pulled inside.

And Yes, I too must check the board regularly. I have looked at other message boards with quilting topics but haven't found one I like as much as I like this one. It is friendly, interesting and easiest to use of any I have looked at. Glad to be a member!

Caroltee 02-19-2008 11:46 PM

:) Guilty as charged. I am Addicted I don’t seem to get much done if I get on line in the light of day so now I spend my nights on line. One good thing has come from being addicted to this board. I have stopped my late night munches and find I have lost a few pounds. WHO say quilting not healthy and good exercise? I now have a new diet it’s called the QMB Diet : :)

BDor 02-20-2008 08:25 AM

Yes, My name is Beverly and I am A QUILT BOARD ADDICT! I am here when I should be cleaning, cooking and most important I could be quilting.
I DO NOT WISH TO JOIN A 12 STEP PROGRAM, I DO NOT WANT TO OVERCOME MY ADDICTION--I JUST WANT MORE HOURS IN A DAY SO I COULD BE HERE MORE.

Lucky Patsy's 02-20-2008 09:58 AM

Hi Beverly! I too must come here daily for my fix!

Bill'sBonBon 02-20-2008 10:13 AM

Hello,
I check in at least twice aday. I have been reading for months before I actually said anything. This Quilting Board is the best one I have looked in and the only one I joined. So Yes I am addicted too, I had withdrawals on monday and tuesday. Electrictions have been doing some much needed rewireing in my home. It is an older house, not enough outlets. They finished at lunch today. Got in a hurry fix lunch for Bill, mom and me. Then here I am. Billsbonbon

mellow yellow 02-20-2008 01:32 PM

ProfArtQuiltersUnite 05-06-2008 07:28 PM

 :P

Izy 05-07-2008 12:38 AM

Well all of you sure play the BIGGEST part in my day....so is that being addictive???? I think so, but don't like to admit to it...at least not in front of DH who thinks I spend FAR too much time with my hobby...hes a 'needy' character, so I have to be careful, otherwise he won't go to the post office to collect al the lovely donations you gals have been sending to me - I gotta keep him sweet lol!! :D

mary705 05-07-2008 02:58 AM

OK, guess I'm an addict too.

Mamagus 05-07-2008 03:01 AM

My husband walks by and says, "So what's new on the quilting board today?"
So I guess you could say "Addicted!"
