I have the fabric for my two oldest grandkids (girls) quilts. I want to make them with the same fabric but mix them up a bit. (The same but different)

Here's my problem.......I don't have the pattern. DUH! One of the fabric's (they are a grouping) is a rather large print so I feel it needs to be a large block. I could use the same pattern I did with my daughter's green quilt but I wanted to do a different one. And for sure a young look.

Am I the only person that knows they want to make a quilt, has the fabric, and can't decide on a pattern. I feel like a dope! :-)

Did several small ones once with one common fabric for little cousins, highlighted different colors in each, same base color w/mostly pink as secondary (irish chain) same base color w/mostly yellow as secondary (zig zig) so all ended up with the one common faabric in all. Didn't work well with the boys as they were smiling sunflowers.

Here are my fabrics. Bright and bold just like the grandkids. :D I just don't want to make it too busy with these "loud" fabrics. :shock:

I love those! What a great job keeping them the same but different! These two girls are only 6 months apart in age and if they don't get the same thing one will feel slighted. :-)

I googled 'warm wishes' and found a free pattern, I think your fabric is a) absolutely gorgous and b) would lend itself very well to that pattern - you could swop the fabric around to give a different look, your grandaughters are very lucky!!
I too have done that, found some fabric but no pattern!! ha ha think it is a common occurance with quilters

No you are not the only person. Far from it. Especially with large prints I am always looking for inspiration and ideas that will incorperate the print yet not chop it up so much that the large print is totally lost. How about enlarging a star block (maybe to 15-24" or so) and using the big print as a center.

I love your fabric it would look great in this pattern and you can switch the pattern around for the other one.
