I have hundreds (yes hundreds) of fabrics My daughter calls me a hoarder and even though she doesn't quilt she likes to look on the board for people searching for a particular fabric to see if I have any to give. I think she's trying to de-stash me. Not once has she found someone looking for anything I have. You start to wonder if you have strange taste - LOL. Funny people have always told me I pick such unusual colors but in the end they work out so well but they always look usual to me. Found out a couple of months ago I'm color blingd to green.

Thanks for letting me ramble. Just found it a strange observation.

Tell your daughter for every piece of fabric you get rid of, she has to get rid of something also! lol

I find it pretty amusing that you daughter is looking to see if anyone is looking for some of your fabrics. I have a substantial stash as well but rarely if ever do I see that someone needs what I have, or am willing to part with.

Maybe she is trying to help out people who are in need.

LOL that is what I tell myself. She and hubby think I'm nuts but I taught him to make a quilt a few years ago and I notice he stops and looks over that stash once in a while. Ithink she really just like reading what everyone is doing. Now she is enthralled with me making her bow tuck purses.

If your fabric works for you, then great! Not sure what to saw about what your daughter is doing to 'help' you...lol

If she really wants to help she can march herself to a quilt shop and shop there for the fabric..!!!! Lol.. I love my stash..

if your avatar is any indication, i think your color choices are excellent!

i'll bet i would have a blast in your stash. :-)

Could it be that she is just in denial over her secret obsession with fabric?

Rose L 08-23-2011 01:20 PM

Me thinks it's time for her to learn how to make her own Bow Tuck Purses, lol! Suddenly your stash would somehow become a valuable commodity.

My oldest grand daughter does that to me!

jrtpetey 08-23-2011 01:59 PM

I too think she's a quilter under it all!

frarose 08-23-2011 02:44 PM

My DD loves to look in my stash for fabric to make her stuff with.

kiffie2413 08-23-2011 02:56 PM

I agree, I think she may not even know she really may want to quilt...lol...

Raggiemom 08-23-2011 03:02 PM

Yes, teach her to quilt too!

You are all lucky-no one in my family is remotely interested in my stash, or anything to do with my obsession. I think they just try to pacify my if I want to show them something. You can tell by their responses, they could care less and can't wait to get back to what they were doing (or watching on TV) which is infanately more interesting and important than my sharing in their minds! Mind you, the are all men!! Even my dogs are boys!

WOW i was amazed at how right you ladies were. I had her read these last night and she was laughing. Then I was looking for something in the ones I have pre-cut and put in plastic bags. I laid one aside saying I'll never make that one so I'll donate it. She picked it and said keep it maybe one day I'll sew it together. LOL I don't even think she knows how to turn the machine on. Think we'll get a cheaper one for her to play with.
