Just signed up ...

... for a 2-day workshop on Heirloom Machine Quilting with Harriet Hargrave at her shop! I am so excited that I have already started packing my gadget bag even though the workshop is 8 weeks away.

The friend who is taking the class with me and I visited the shop over the weekend to get our supply list and homework. I am just giddy!

Have any of you been to one of her classes? I am a little worried since I have only hand quilted. I am not very good with my machine but I'd like to learn so I can make some things a bit faster (like baby quilts for friends - family babies will still get hand pieced and hand quilted). My friend and I are amateurs. I am so hoping we are not behind!

I took a class from her many years ago. It was wonderful! You are going to enjoy it!!! :) Plus, you will learn a *lot*. It helps to study her book first:

I agree with Prism99 about the book. You'll love the class even if you feel 'lost' at first.
Be sure to get more familiar with your machine though before you attend; having to 'mess with' a machine while others are going to town will make you nuts!
Enjoy!!

I have been reading through the book and I got out the manual for my machine and went through it. I just hope the others in the class aren't pros!

I don't take classes, pretty much self taught and happy with my results.

I'm sure you will catch on very quickly. Everything is a learning process and everyone works at their own speed.

SHe was a guest speaker at our guild earlier this year and she gave a very interesting talk. She is all about doing it right from beginning to end. Expect to learn a lot and expect to do the work acurately. She does sounds like a lot of fun too so I bet you'll have a blast.

I have 2 of her books! She is a master quilter, and not on a long arm. If your going to take a class on quilting on a regular machine, I don't know of anyone more qualified!! Her work is amazing. Great opportunity for you! Enjoy!!
